A brilliant week at the Essex Closed, held at Westcliff Lawn Tennis Club!

A big effort from all the players from 8U all the way through to the Open age groups and a huge well done to all our winners and finalists 🔥👏

Thank you to Steve Wynn, our referee for the week, and all the on-court volunteers who helped the matches run smoothly. Thanks also to the helpers behind the bar and in the kitchen who supplied everyone with amazing food and drink, and a big thank you to our sponsors for their generosity.

We are delighted to let you know that nominations for the LTA Awards 2026/27 are open and will close at the end of November 2026.

Last year, Essex achieved its highest ever number of nominations. Let’s build on that success and raise the bar once again by recognising the outstanding people who make a difference in our venues and communities.

The LTA Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the volunteers, coaches, officials, and organisers who go above and beyond to grow and support tennis. Taking the time to nominate someone is a meaningful way to acknowledge their dedication and the positive impact they have on others.

The LTA Awards presented by Lexus celebrate the achievements made by outstanding individuals and venues in tennis and padel throughout the past year. from grassroots tennis to elite performance. They present us all with a great opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to those who generously give their time to open up tennis and padel to all.

Today the Essex men’s 45s team beat Kent 45s 4-1. They played at Thorpe Bay in lovely conditions and a lively crowd. Well done to Steve Russell, Lee Blackman, Rich Barham, Dave Barham and Dave Tuskin. That’s two wins out of two. Let’s keep believing 👊
