Marcus Lipton Cup Final 🏆
1 - 4 SWAG
Better late than never !
After winning the Frank Blunstone and League in the weeks prior the infamous treble awaited…but could we do it? 👀
Despite dominating the ball, Junction probably had the better of the chances in the opening half. A well taken goal around the 35 minute mark allowed them to take the lead. But we’ve been here before (thinking back to the South City final at Sutton a few years back). Corner SWAG on the stroke of half time. Up pops the Captain for his 4th goal in the last 4 games with a header at the back post. Set piece again Ole Oleeeeeee 💃🏽. HT 1-1.
We knew we had the quality on the pitch and the bench to wear them down over 95 minutes. Two chances were made with LD and George coming on. What a difference this made.
A Cal pull back was met by LD for his third goal in a week to put us 2-1 up! The link up arose again a few minutes later with another kissed finish by Lou past the Junction keeper. After the season he’s had no fullback wants to be up against Hams when the game is stretched …. Meep meep 🐦 and he’s off with a cut back to Cal who rounds the keeper to make it 4.
Final whistle blows. Treble secured (the first Prem, Marcus Lipton and Frank Blunstone in at least 17 years - check the history books) 🏆 🏆 🏆
What a season and what a bunch of lads!

MARCUS LIPTON CUP FINAL 🏆

SWAG 3 - 0
After the last minute winner last week, we only needed 1 point from our last 2 games to win the league. A top performance was needed and the cream defo rose to the top 😮💨
A rather rouge starting 11 today with 3 CBs and Nicko at LW after pulling an all nighter 🕺🏻
We dominated the majority of the ball and the chances in the first half. Side to side to side to a pull back that wasn’t met or wasn’t finished off. The signs were there. Continue to wear them down 💤
Louis made his way onto the pitch 55 mins in and finds himself on the left a few minutes later. One knee. One loud mouth. One top corner worldie from 25 yards out 🤯 1-0 SWAG. A few minutes later Hamido skinned his fullback for the 10000th time and who else to tap it home…the one and only LD again. If there was going to be a SWAG legend to seal a title victory against Clapham it would be LD - sober, drunk, one leg, it doesn’t matttteerrrrr!! 2-0 SWAG. Coming into the final few minutes El Capitano intercepts the ball halfway inside his own half and doesn’t even consider passing… drop of the shoulder, nutmeg, burners and a scuffed finish past the keeper was enough to seal the game. 3-0 SWAG.
THE TITLE IS OURS! 🏆 🏆

SWAG 3-2
A title on the line for both teams. A game that had it all… red cards, sin bins, controversy and a last minute winner…the local dog walkers really got their money’s worth.
We started strong in the first 20 minutes leading to us taking the lead from an Omz finish that fell into the path of Killian on his debut. Then the madness commenced. A marauding run from the magpie midfielder led to their striker being played through and taken out of David, our GK, leading to a free kick and a straight red card around the 30 minute mark. An early shower for Mr Tequila Sunrise and a rare GK appearance for Nathan who filled in for the rest of the game.
Despite being one man down, we continued our dominance, with countless opportunities squandered. It could have been 5-0 at this point but instead we had two clear pens waved away and an Omran sin bin just before the half to have us on 9 men.
The second half started as the first finished: resolute defending until Omz returned. We then found a 2nd goal through a ball over the top and a fine Hamido finish. Unfortunately a Jacob own goal and a well taken magpie finish left us going into the final mins at 2-2. Then in the dying moment, Hamido lofted a ball to the far post which was met by a Jacob header across goal…Killian couldn’t miss and handed SWAG the much needed win.
Character, determination and quality when needed not just led us to 3 points but to touching distance of the title and subsequently causing Magpie to fold as a club - frustrated that despite having 2 games against us with 10 men for 70 mins they couldn’t beat us 😉
All gas and no breaks no. Let’s finish the job.

Not quite as even and thrilling as the PSG v Bayern game but an absolute goal fest of a semi final 🔥
This was a game of Elliot x Hamido collabs coming like a 2022 Supreme drop or a late 2010s Drake song Ft Rihanna 🎵

0 - 3 SWAG
You don’t get to cup finals without those winter grafts on dodgy pitches so shoutout the GOAT Graham for locking in this beauty of a pitch 😍
Regardless of the competition, this fixture is always a battle that can go either way, with Clapham getting the better of us over the last few fixtures.
Both teams arrived with seemingly thin squads. We started the first half well and were able to get in behind the oppo out wide a handful of times through some dogged running by our front line and George (outta nowhere). Chances for Cal, Hamido and George couldn’t quite make their way in. From 30-45 mins the game felt like basketball, with chances going either way and Clapham missing two big chances to go ahead. HT 0-0.
An inspired team talk with some clear instructions were provided: patience was key 🔐
I can’t lie we really stepped those levels up in the second half. We kept the ball better, moved it cleanly and allowed our wingers to isolate the Clapham back line time and time again. Weirdly, it was a bullet header from the skipper that took us ahead around the 65 mins mark, before an importance goal line clearance 20 seconds after the restart. From there it was one way traffic. Our creative players did their thing against a tiring Clapham as the game continued. Full steam ahead to a fine Kofi finish and a Hamido tap in, followed by a few other chances to extend the lead.
Full time and 3-0 to the SWAG 🔥
These cup finals keep coming. Can’t stop won’t stop ✋🏻

SWAG 7 - 2
After knocking out a prem big dawg in the previous round, this was always going to be a challenging game that we needed to bring our A Game for…
After a sloppy first 20 mins, we grew into the game quickly with strike after strike after strike. 5-0 up at HT. this continued in the early stages of the second half, with the game stretching to 7-0 before Old Fields grabbed 2 goals late on to David’s fury 🤬
Dictated by Nicko in the middle of the park and some amazing finishes by Rylan and Cal (how could you do that to your mates 😭) 🔥
Into the Marcus Lipton semis and onto the Frank Blunstone final next week 👀

SWAG 4 - 0
After 2 draws in a row in the league against Westminster and Carpet, it felt like another big surge was needed to create a cushion at the top of the table. A big result was needed…
No need to overdo the post this week. 1-0 up from a Nicko free kick lead us into a lead at HT. The game opened up in the second half with the message being to be ruthless. Goals from Hamido, Ali and H were enough to finish the game off. 4-0 FT.
Considering the Junction team were without their firepower today, we will take the 3 points and hope that we can charge up some intensity for the big few weeks due after the Easter break.
