It’s been a while, but I’ve rekindled my annual reflection on setting a theme for the year. 2023 was “Centre”.

And here’s a little poem about how yoga brings us back to ourselves…
Silence
But for the steady rhythm
Of heart and breath
Feet planted
Toes extended
Arms arcing upwards
And the space for breath expands
As the body releases a constriction
That is so habitual
It is revealed only by its retreat
Breath and body synchronise
And mind cannot resist joining in
Finally present
Finally here
Finally now
Peaceful and centred
For a fleeting moment
That feels like home

I received such a thoughtful gift from one of my dear yoga clients recently. I have been working with her for a few years now and what I love most about 1:1 yoga tuition is being on a journey with each person.
We had both happened to join an online workshop with Bill Wood, organised through BWY - At the Heart of Yoga, and had enjoyed discussing and reflecting together on what we’d learnt and how we could incorporate it into our work together. I was thrilled when she said his style reminded her of mine - working with the body rather than against it, with lots of subtle somatic practice and embodiment.
So the gift of Bill’s book was beautifully thoughtful 💕 I look forward to diving in!

This evening we said goodbye to beautiful Mieke in a wonderful blessing ceremony at filled with love, tears, music and memories. Committing to “keep moving, keep breathing, keep loving” in her memory as we parted ways.
Mieke was an important teacher in my own yoga journey and she clearly touched so many souls through her work and life 💕 It was such a shock to hear that she had left us so soon.
Sending love to all who knew her 🩷

It's been a while...here's a little blog post on yoga for transition and change :)
"Our yoga practice trains our nervous system to stay regulated in the face of all the stresses and shocks of life. It’s a life practice. And it’s a life-long practice."
Transition and change: What we can learn from yoga
Change is difficult for humans. We place ourselves in the past or the future instead of that tricky present moment of in-betweenness. Yoga has a lot to teach us here.

It's that time of year...and not too late to set an intention for 2022. Do away with resolutions that make you feel bad about yourself - choose those that make you feel good, or try out a theme for your year instead. Here's now the theme of "healing" shaped my year in 2021.
2021: A year of healing
My theme for 2021 was “Healing”. What will you take with you from 2021? And what will you let go of to make space as we welcome 2022?

Merry Christmas dear ones, from my heart to yours! I have been very absent from social media this year…but rest assured here in the background my love of yoga continues. And I have absolutely loved teaching my 1:1 clients this year (as always).
I look forward to reconnecting with you all in the new year. In the meantime, wishing you a happy and restful Christmas 😘 # # # 💫

I wrote a thing for the first time in ages! A few thoughts about the radical nature of rest...are you resting or collapsing??
Radical rest: Are you resting or collapsing?
When was the last time you truly rested? I don’t mean sitting on the sofa watching TV, or even reading a book, but truly deep restorative rest.

Thanks to a recent photoshoot with The Tortoise Haus Photography, my website has just had a much needed refresh. A lot has changed in the five years I’ve been teaching, and it’s nice to see my website looking like me now rather than me then 😊
