10 years today the first episode of .pod dropped.

The day we recorded, the world was dealing with the news that David Bowie had passed the day before and Barnet had just beaten the massive Bristol Rovers. I grabbed Michael Hanley to come and record with Iain and I and I think we had very basic recording gear hence the (lack of) sound quality.

The beginnings of BeesPod was quite strange. I’d never met Iain Botterill before he private messaged me on the Barnet forum asking if I would be interested in starting a podcast with him.

Over the last 10 years we’ve become good friends and I’ve been in awe at this incredible work ethic and talent especially with . I felt like a proud older brother when he won the Lester Finch award!

In the time that BeesPod has existed we won a .content.awards, interviewed the chairman Tony Kleanthous, our manager Dean Brennan several times, Bees legend amongst others, had appearances from a whole number of special guests and enough outtake episodes which would fill a box set. (Need to work out how to fix the audio on the Jon Nurse interview that never came out)

Thanks to everyone who’s ever contributed to our podcast especially and current cohost .

Once the Bees are back in Barnet, expect us to return to a more regular output.

On the 25th of August 2025, a devastating fire swept through Silkstream Road in Burnt Oak, destroying the roofs of family homes and forcing residents to leave urgently as firefighters battled the blaze.

The Young Barnet Foundation, on behalf Barnet Together, has launched this GoFundMe to help those families who now face the hardest days of their lives. Your donations will help support families trying to rebuild their homes.

These are our neighbours and local community who need immediate help. Every pound raised will go directly to giving them comfort, stability, and hope as they begin their journey of recovery.

Sadly tonight Barnet Council councillors voted against the plans for South Underhill, 6 voting with the recommendation to reject the plans and 3 abstaining.

Special mention to Iain Botterill who delivered an emotional speech that made us all proud.

However this isn’t the end. will let you know about the next steps soon.

We will keep fighting for a home back where we belong… in Underhill, Barnet.

The planning committee will be voting on the application at Hendon Town Hall at 6pm on Monday 14th July.

We need as many people there as possible to show support for the plans.
