After the success of the Brand Jordan initiated pilot program in developing a new wave of players, coaches and clubs based around the Lambeth, Southwark and Brent communities, NIKE teamed up with Reach & Teach to officially launch the London School Of Basketball in spectacular fashion with global icon Kobe Bryant flying in from America to lead an exclusive coaching clinic and inspirational Q&A with young players selected from across the Jordan program.

‘Kobe’ was a 5-time NBA Champion, NBA MVP, 2-time Olympic Gold Medal winner and widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all-time. A supremely talented superstar of the highest calibre, who was tragically lost in a helicopter accident 2 years ago today, alongside his inspirational daughter Gigi, Kobe will forever remain one of the most recognisable and beloved athletes in the world. His appearance and support at the LSB launch was a monumental moment in British basketball history and sent equal waves of excitement and disbelief amongst both the young players and coaches in attendance.

The LA Lakers legend spent time with both players and coaches from the LSB network, assessing the hard work being put in on all of the stations and stopping to give invaluable insights and advice to the awestruck young Londoners throughout the day.

The London School of Basketball provided the touchpoint for ‘The Black Mamba’ to inspire the next generation of players and coaches across the capital through an exciting new program focused on coaching and teaching the game with passion, energy and enthusiasm as we developed a network of community clubs throughout London for young people to have safe places to play and develop within the game for the long-term.

CBL wishes best of luck to the youngest in charge, Ric Trotter who is moving back to America after a standout rookie season in the league last season. Ric will be playing AAU for the Hampton Hoyas as their starting point guard. The U14 league MVP electrified the CBL with his lightening pace of play and unrivalled vision that led to Zoo Crew buckets dime after dime after...(you get the idea). Though he’ll always have a home in the CBL, we look forward to seeing what’s next for this future star and wish him the very best with his next moves. 🦍😤
