I got quite into the football this year.
I have basic understanding of the rules and whether things look good or not (thanks to numerous journeys with Rory!)
I also have no time for people who compare the ‘pain’ footballers go through to women giving birth - the trend on Tiktok. There is just no comparison - one is a high impact sport, one is a high impact natural wonder.
However my point of this very small little piece of writing. - (I have a list of articles to add to my substack and blog soon promise) is an observation of their loss last night.
When they lost the commentary afterwards included…
- the captain of the team pretty much admitting they didn’t play good enough
- the pundits conversing all the things they did wrong and how they could’ve done it better
And I’m sure the headlines today will have negatives too.
Now, I’m aware they’re not children but professionals, but I noticed they didn’t comment the following…
‘England lost their game in a REALLY TOUGH competition’
‘England came 4th out of 48’
‘England were some of the youngest (not fact checked!) in their group’
It was simply, that they lost and they needed to do better.
I love that. Well done and all, but work harder, looks to the strategy that went wrong, train different, and don’t make excuses.

It’s National Pina Colada day.
You know what I once had a kid tell me there favourite drink was a Pina Colada and then when I asked where they drank that, she said ‘at home’.
Every time I’m helping neutralise someone’s pelvis and ‘not to spill their drink’ I just can’t help but giggle at that memory 🍹

I’m just shouting out to anyone who’s feeling a bit lonely.
Being a dance teacher is lonely; being surrounded by kids but maybe no one are own age for hours on end. Attempting to explain to normal people our schedule. Being the only one running a studio. Driving for hours here there and everywhere.
I get it, I’ve been there. But my task for you today is to book something in the diary that’s means you get the chance to be less lonely.
Book a fitness class, meet a friend. Or if you really want book a call with me and we can have a good old natter/sort out your dance teacher problems one by one!
