Thank you for the wonderfully tasty cookies I had with my tea this morning! I’m sure all my students who received them last night loved them just as much!

Huge congratulations to all our young competitors on Saturday! 🥇🥈🥉

What made the day for me wasn’t just the medals it was the journey our students have been on to get to this point. Some stepped out for their very first competition, while others found the courage to come back after tough losses at previous events. All the hard sessions the hours of repetition and fine turning these skills definitely paid off on the day.

The sportsmanship, resilience, and courage on display made us all proud.

It’s not about standing on the sidelines, but about having the courage to step in, try, and give everything you’ve got—and that’s exactly what these kids did.

Win or lose, every single one of them showed up, faced their challenges, and came out stronger

Well done to all of you.

🌸 Happy International Women’s Day 🌸

Over the past couple of days it’s been a real privilege to deliver self-defence sessions The Frances Bardsley Academy for Girls. The focus was on simple movement, striking drills and breakaway techniques, giving the girls practical tools to help them stay aware, create space, and get themselves to safety before a situation escalates.

What stood out the most was how engaged the students were. The girls asked great questions, got fully involved in the drills. Building their awareness and personal safety in everyday situations was key to these exercises.

Myself and Sensei Tahlia Kokoro Kai Ju Jitsu Romford both commented on what a positive experience it was working with such a great group of students, and it’s fantastic to see a school like Frances Bardsley creating opportunities that empower young women in such a meaningful way.

We’re really looking forward to returning next week to work with the older year groups and continuing to help the girls build confidence, resilience and a solid foundation when learning practical self-defence skills.

What a great night!
Our first-ever adult brown belt for our Raihman club.

When he first walked through our doors, he couldn’t even do a forward roll. Not one.
But he showed up. He worked. He struggled. He persevered. And now look…

What a way to end the year . I genuinely could not be prouder.

An incredibly well thought grading and a belt that was 100% earned.
To watch his transformation, on and off the mats, and to be part of that journey has been an absolute honour. Well done Richie!

**“Our Most Improved Student is someone who honestly could have earned this trophy much earlier. One of his greatest strengths is the way he quietly stays under the radar — constantly training hard, always pushing himself, and making his move when he needs to.

While preparing for his blue belt, he really challenged himself with wrist locks. He progressed towards purple belt, gaining confidence, and now taking on sacrifice throws through to the first part of his brown belt.
Well done, keep up the good work 👍

Well done to all our Students on Saturday, they all did amazingly, and some really showed dedication and determination throughout the entire grading. I was so pleased with you all! Fantastic all round.
A special shout-out to our three students going for brown black. A real show of skill and commitment throughout your journey to this point. It’s not for the faint of heart getting to where you are. Sometimes we stumble, sometimes we lose sight of the end goal, but when you walk out onto that mat, knowing you have it, you did it! I could not be prouder of you all three of you. Now the real journey begins!
