The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) said on Friday it has signed a contract extension with Antonio Conceicao, head coach of the national football team, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

“Today in Yaounde, under the supervision of the Minister of Sports, I extended the contract of the Indomitable Lions coach Antonio Conceicao and those of his assistants, Cameroonian Francois Omam Biyik and Jacques Celestin Songo’o,” the federation president Seidou Mbombo Njoya tweeted after the contract was signed in the capital, Yaounde.

English Premier League club Burnley signed Côte d’Ivoire international from French Ligue 1 side Lyon on a five-year contract in a deal reported to be worth around €15 million (£12.9 million).

Cornet completed “one of the largest transfer deals” in the club’s history following the completion of a medical, the club said in a statement on Sunday before their league match at home to Leeds United.

Ethiopian Yalemzerf Yehualaw wrote her name in the history books on Sunday after she won the women’s Antrim Coast Half Marathon in Larne, Northern Ireland, breaking the world record in the process.

Yehualaw emerged victorious in a time of 1:03:44 shattering the previous record set by Kenya’s Ruth Chepngetich of 1:04:02 in Istanbul in April by a massive 18 seconds.

England has finally dispelled its mental demons to score two late goals and overcome Germany at Wembley in a Euro 2020 blockbuster.

England had not beaten Germany in a knock-out match at a major tournament since the World Cup final of 1966, but Gareth Southgate’s side made it’s own history on Wednesday morning.

Roger Federer survived Adrian Mannarino to get his quest for a record extending ninth Wimbledon title off the mark. It was not the way anyone would want to win a match as a fall by Mannarino forced him to retire from the match while locked in at 2-2 in sets, handing Roger a 6-4, 6-7 (3), 3-6, 6-2 match win.

The International Cricket Council confirmed on Tuesday that the men’s T20 World Cup will be held in the United Arab Emirates and Oman later this year.

India was initially scheduled to host the tournament, but the escalation of the covid pandemic in that country has forced the change.

Tennis star Serena Williams has announced that she will be skipping the Tokyo Olympics, but did not want to say why during her pre-Wimbledon video conference with reporters Sunday.

“I’m actually not on the Olympic list. … Not that I’m aware of. If so, then I shouldn’t be on it,” Williams said.

Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday announced that the country will host the World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally until 2026.

The President announced that an agreement has been reached between the Government of Kenya, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and the World Rally Championship (WRC) for the country to hold the rally.

Three Springboks have tested positive for coronavirus, forcing the cancellation of a training session scheduled for Sunday in Johannesburg, a South Africa Rugby statement said.

The affected players, part of a 46-man squad preparing for Test series against Georgia and the British and Irish Lions from this Friday, were not named.

No alcohol, no hugs, no cheers and no autographs: Tokyo Olympic organizers unveiled tough new rules for spectators at the pandemic Games on Wednesday as they marked one month until the opening ceremony.

Tokyo 2020 president Seiko Hashimoto warned festivities “will have to be suppressed” to keep the Games safe, and conceded that organizers will need to be “creative” to stoke a party atmosphere.

South African golfer Louis Oosthuizen will not take part in the upcoming Olympic Games in order to focus on a strong finish to the FedEx Cup and honour family commitments.

“Qualifying for the Olympics is a humbling accomplishment and there’s no greater honor than representing your country, so it has been a very difficult decision for me, my team and my family to withdraw from playing in Tokyo. I am focused on finishing a strong Fed Ex Cup season in the United States,” Oosthuizen said in a statement.

The Namibian Rugby Union (NRU) on Thursday announced the appointment of former South African rugby team member and head coach Allister Coetzee as the new coach for the national team.

In a statement NRU said Coetzee will take his job on June 25, until the end of the 2023 World Cup.
