Happy New Year, parkrunners! 👋

We hope you enjoyed our special NYD event yesterday - congratulations to all 484 finishers and our 35 amazing volunteers for starting the year in style. 🎉 However, here's an early heads up that our normal event due to take place tomorrow on Saturday 3 January might not happen after all.

Part of the route is currently heavily frosted, and we are likely to make a call later to cancel. Not confirmed yet, but we'll update later and let you know!

If you're already looking forward to the weekend, you're not the only one! 😉 As always, we're super excited to be parkrunning together on Saturday. If you're around, we'd love your help in filling the roster and making it all possible! 🥰

Currently, we are looking for:

3 x marshals (who doesn't love being thanked by 100s of hundreds of park runners?)

many x funnel managers (currently we only have 1! 😱)

If you're super speedy, you could even run first before pitching in with barcode scanning or funnel management. :)

Burgess parkrun is cancelled on 2nd and 9th August due to other events in the park. Back on the 16th, see you then! ☺️

Burgess parkrun is cancelled today on 19 July due to the poor weather. It's miserable outside, and there is a risk of thunder and lightning, so do stay safe and dry! 🌧 ⚡️

Burgess parkrun is cancelled on 24 May and 31 May due to another event in the park.

It's finally Marathon Weekend - and we are SO excited! 🎉

If you fancy kicking off your weekend with some parkrunny goodness, we'll see you at the start line in Burgess Park tomorrow.

The roster is pleasingly full for tomorrow (YESSSS, Burgess! 🙏), but we can never have too many volunteers. So if you fancy coming along to soak up the atmosphere but don't want to run, walk or jog, come see the run director in the morning and she'll find you something to usefully do! :)

Thank you so much to all our brilliant volunteers today, including the ones who jumped in at the very last minute to make the event go ahead so smoothly. It’s a great reminder that if you wake up and feel like volunteering, or have time to stick around after your run, we will always have a role for you! 🙏

The results will be out slightly later today due to some adjustments required, but don’t worry, we have a plan, and it will be fine. Just bear with us - we will sort it all later today. ☺️

The roster for this weekend is starting to shape up nicely, but we still need one more timekeeper and a bucketload of funnel managers and barcode scanners. If you can help, please leave us a comment here, or email this week's RD Shona at [email protected].

Both brand-new and experienced volunteers very welcome, as are offers of help from faster runners who fancy doubling up with a run and volunteer credit.

(Alternatively, if anyone would just like an excuse to not run, walk or jog, this week's RD totally has your back. 😉And maybe even a post-parkrun coffee bribe. ☕️)

Last weekend, we had goodies to celebrate Chinese New Year. 🐍

This weekend? Free bike marking! 🚲

There will be a stand near the finish area where you can get some help marking your bike. If you're a keen cyclist as well as a parkrunner, it's a great opportunity to help keep your bike safer.

Yes, the bike marking is free.

No, having so many PCs and PCSOs stationed near the funnel is just a coincidence. Still... no harm in being on your best behaviour. 😉 Remember to stay in order in the finish funnel and keep moving down!

The weather might be set to be on the gloomy side this weekend, but Saturday morning should avoid the worst of it. Dress warmly and bring your best smiles! 😄
