🔥 Breaking NEWS! 🔥

We're heading back to where we started.

The Gym Lounge will be opening a new site on The Isle of Dogs E14 along Manchester Road in the new year. Its still very early on with plans and development but we are ready to expand and only a stones throw away from our very first PT studio.

Were Extremely excited to be able to tell you this news and we will need everyone's help in making sure we are successful as we have been up until this point.

As we know more, we will keep you all informed.

Thank you so much for your custom, support and friendship over the years and may it continue onto the new sites we plan to open in the coming years.

Nothing changes on any of our other sites all operations will stay as is and will always keep improving all sites for our wonderful members.

If your local to the area please message us or comment on what you would love to see your new gym bring to the Island.

We have all heard, when training... ➡️"progressive overload"⬅️

What is it? and how do reps play the key component.

If you have been given a specific rep range, let's say 8-10 reps.
You rep 10kg for 8 reps, and that is you totally maxed out. Next time you train, "PROGRESS" would be hitting 9 reps. Then, next time, 10 reps. Once you have hit the 10 reps consistently for at least 2 weeks, that is the time to up the load. Always exhaust your rep range before going up in weight.

🔊 That is progressive overload.

I hope that makes it a little clearer. If not, drop me a message, and we can run through it again.

Is it a Fashion statement, a Trend, or does it have a purpose??

You may have seen people wear sliders, trainers, crocks 👈🤮 or even socked feet in the gym or in videos.

The simple reason behind why I wear sliders or go barefeet is simply that I have firm contact with the floor or platform to perform better. Having constant contact with the floor allows for increased force production, which I don't get from wearing trainers.

It can also improve stability, balance and can increase engagement with muscles. WIN

The exercises that I mainly go (socked) barefeet on are
👉Deadlifts or any hinge work
👉Squats
👉Calf raise
👉Lunges
👉Leg press

Be aware of gym policies!
Yes, it is okay to train barefoot in a gym as long as the facility allows it.

Give it a go (gym permitted), and let me know how it goes..
