A job isn't always the destination. It can be the starting point.
From 1 October 2026, Jobcentre Plus and the National Careers Service will come together in England as the new Jobs & Careers Service.
It's part of a wider shift towards connecting employment, careers and skills.
Because sustainable employment isn't just about getting someone through the door.
It's about giving people the confidence, skills and support to progress.
That's what good employability support should do.
Not just help people find work. Help people move forward.

Growing Opportunity in the Local Community!
Caroline, one of our Employment Coaches, recently visited two local community events: the Social Values Castle Mead Year 9 Speed Networking and Community Event and the Fullhurst Community College Year 10 Speed Networking Event.

Our colleagues over at 3SC have put together a fantastic blog to support families over the summer holidays. ☀️
For neurodivergent children and their families, changes in routine, busy environments and additional social demands can sometimes feel overwhelming during the school break.
With summer now underway, 3SC is revisiting 25 low-cost, high-impact activity ideas, including nature scavenger hunts, sensory play, cardboard forts, quiet-time tents and visual planners.
They've also included two downloadable planning templates to help bring a little more structure and predictability to the weeks ahead.
Every child is different, and not every activity will work every day. Choose what suits your family, adapt as needed and follow your child's lead.

You have more skills than you think 💡
If you're not in education, employment or training right now, it can be easy to feel like you don't have much to offer an employer.
But skills don't only come from a job.
🎮 Gaming can build problem-solving, strategy and teamwork.
⚽ Sport can develop resilience, communication and determination.
👨👩👧 Supporting family or caring for others can show responsibility, patience and organisation.
📱 Using social media can develop digital, creative and communication skills.
🤝 Volunteering or helping in your community can demonstrate reliability, teamwork and initiative.
Even the things you do every day can help you build skills for your future.
The important part is recognising those skills — and getting the support to understand how they can help you take your next step towards education, training or employment.
You might not have a job on your CV yet.
That doesn't mean you don't have skills.
What’s something you do outside of work or education that you're proud of?
