What a brilliant Open Day in Dagenham yesterday! ☀️

The sun was definitely out, and it was lovely to see so many families come down, get involved and enjoy the afternoon with us.

The children had a great time trying out NERF and Dodgeball, and it was brilliant to see them playing, laughing and getting stuck in.

Days like this are exactly why we do what we do. Creating fun, active and inclusive spaces where children can move, build confidence and enjoy themselves.

At Active Future, we’re all about helping children find their way into being active, whether that’s through NERF, dodgeball, football, or just free play with their friends.

Because when they enjoy it, they stick with it.
And when they stick with it, that’s where the real benefits come.

Simple. Inclusive. Consistent.

Free Play gives children more than just time to run around.

It gives them space to explore, choose, create, and connect with others in their own way.

Some of the biggest benefits we see are:

✅ Social skills and teamwork
✅ Creativity and imagination
✅ Problem-solving through play
✅ More enjoyment of movement
✅ Freedom to try new activities without pressure

For some children, Free Play is where they discover what they enjoy.
For others, it’s simply a chance to be active, have fun, and feel included.

Either way, it matters.

Because every child deserves the chance to move, play, and enjoy being active.

Free Play is simple… but it’s something a lot of children don’t get anymore.

Most sport today is structured.
Adult-led.
Constant instruction.

And while that has its place, it leaves very little room for children to just… play.

That’s what Free Play brings back.

A space where children can:
choose what they do
try different activities
create their own games
and enjoy movement without pressure

Some will discover a sport they love.
Some will build confidence.
Some will just have fun with their friends.

And that’s exactly the point.

Because when children enjoy moving,
they’re far more likely to keep doing it.
