This Sunday the Firsts have their first home game of the season as they welcome Southampton Women to The Den for the first time.

The ladies will be looking to bounce straight back after their opening defeat on Sunday and it would be great to have a big crowd at The Den to welcome the ladies back!

Aylesford currently play in the London Southeast Region Premier Division.

Result: Sholing 4–2 Denham United Firsts

Defeat for our Ladies this afternoon in their first game in the Premier Division of The Southern Regional League

Coach Andy Moore reflects on todays match.

"The first game of the season brought some new faces to the squad and, on a very warm afternoon in Sholing, we unfortunately started the campaign with a disappointing 4–2 defeat.

Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance. For large periods of the game, we played some really good football and, on another day, the result could have been very different.

Sholing’s goalkeeper produced an incredible performance, making a number of important saves, while their number 10 provided a constant threat with her pace. Those two factors ultimately made the difference in a game where we created enough opportunities to have been much more competitive on the scoreboard.

There were also some excellent individual performances and plenty to be encouraged by. Chloe and Milley both marked their debuts with goals, while Grace produced an outstanding performance and was one of our standout players on the afternoon.

Football can be a cruel game, and today simply wasn’t our day. However, there is no reason to dwell on the result. We know we have a good team, and the ability within the squad is clear.

As we look ahead to next week, we need to be more clinical in front of goal and quicker at identifying and dealing with opposition threats. That responsibility sits not only with the players but with us as coaches too.

There is plenty to build on, and we go again next week knowing that this group has the quality to move forward.

Next weekend the Ladies play their first home game against Southampton Women K.O 2pm.

Defender Sienna Tilbury had this to say about the win.
"An outstanding performance from everyone It was a well deserved win. Everyone worked hard from start to finish, battled for every ball and showed great teamwork. Really proud of the girls today - onto the next one for another win"💪⚽️
