Greenwich Yacht Club’s third annual fundraising yacht race for the benefit of the RNLI lifeboat charity is on Sunday May 10.
The money we raise will go directly to the RNLI's Tower Lifeboat Station, which is based near Waterloo Bridge. It covers the River Thames from Battersea to Woolwich, and is the busiest lifeboat station in the country. Yet it still relies on public donations to meet its running costs.
The race will be from our clubhouse in Greenwich to Erith, and back. Members of other sailing clubs on the River Thames are welcome to enter, at bit.ly/RNLI_RACE_ENTRY_2026
After the winners are presented with their trophies by the Mayor of Greenwich, there will be a raffle. We would like to thank all our members and businesses that have generously donated prizes, a full list is at bit.ly/RNLI_Race_Prizes

GYC History - The GYC members have always fund raised for many good causes. On Tuesday the RNLI came over to collect the funds raised during 1 particular event - £2266 organised by Jim & Clive.
Just to mention the GYC panto raised £2238 from ticket sales (split equally between RNLI & Greenwich Food Bank), the GYC Rowers participated in the Great River Race and raised over £826 and more money is being collected - all for the RNLI this year too.
Well done to all the GYC fund raisers.
