Finchley Bowling Club

Well done to Finchley members Ian Ellis, Dave Fish and Harry McKinnon, pictured here with Bounds Green club President Steve Griffiths. They took first place at BG's President's Day competition this afternoon, by picking up a six on their last end to seal a 25-8 win. More importantly, over £1,200 was raised for Great Ormond Street Hospital 🥰

PS. We also hear that Dave's mum Joyce did rather well on the raffle 😉🥂

Another JAZZ NIGHT on Monday 15th May!

After a very enjoyable night in March we're delighted to welcome back on Monday the fabulous NEW RIVER DIXIELANDERS! This brilliant traditional jazz band will again be playing well-known tunes in their own unmistakeable style.

FREE ENTRY. Bar open from 19:30, with live jazz music from 8-10pm. Why not bring a friend along and drop in for a drink!

Upcoming diary dates:

Saturday 22nd April: The bowling green opens and all bowlers are encouraged to come along for a 'Competitive Roll-up'. Come to the club early so we can draw teams ready for a 2pm start.
The bar will be open from 1pm!

Also on 22nd April there will be cash prizes to be won at the Green Opening Bingo Night. Arrive by 8:15pm ready for an 8:45pm start.

Saturday 29th April: Stuart will be carrying out the draws for some of the internal competitions. Live in the Bar.

Saturday 13th May: Eurovision Song Contest (from Liverpool) on TV, and sweepstake in clubhouse.

Monday 15th May: Jazz Night with The New River Dixielanders.

Well done to our current club champion Ian Ellis, who has won through to the final of the 2022-23 Middlesex County Indoor Bowls Mens Singles competition, a title he previously won in 2015-16. In the final he'll face Hounslow's Dave Pitt, the current Mens Singles Champion and twice all-England Over-60s Singles champion.

Ian, together with Nick Edwards, also has won through to the Mens Pairs final, and will defend again the title they've held for the previous three seasons.

These and other county indoor finals will be held at Glebelands Indoor Bowls Club on Saturday 15th April, with the singles final likely to be in the morning. More details of finalists are available at:

We're delighted to announce that the 2023 AGM agreed to bestow Life Memberships on longstanding club stalwarts: Kay Kudlacek, Val McMillan, and John Morley. We thank them for all the years of great service and loyalty to our club!

It's the finals of Finchley Open Week on Friday afternoon (at 2pm); then on Saturday and Sunday it's our centenary year Club Finals ... see the picture for details :)

2022 marks our 100th anniversary! We've published a centenary brochure and we have some special events planned for this upcoming season. More details soon, and some already on our website at www.finchleybowlsclub.co.uk

Club Members will also be receiving their 2022 Club Handbooks soon, with all this season's fixtures included.

The bowling green will open on 19th April, weather permitting, and remember our clubhouse and bar are open every Saturday from 19:30, all year round, so come and say hello, and maybe even join us on the green for some outdoor sun and fun this summer!

This weekend is our club finals weekend, from 10:00 on both Saturday and Sunday, culminating with the Men's and Ladies' Singles finals which both start at 2pm on Sunday. Refreshments available. Please come and support all our finalists.
