Q: Why is it so funny when Parliament Hill and Muswell Hill get together?
A: Because they are hill areas
Today’s friendly match results: 62:31 to Parliament Hill. 👏👏

Don’t judge us for how old we are or what we wear.
All welcome.
🤖AI obviously
We time-share our green with the club and don’t usually see each other… but a mix-up with the calendar on Sunday meant that we all played together and it worked out rather well!

Here’s the BEFORE, DURING and AFTER big reveal! If you’ve followed along on here, you’ll know that when we arrived in April for the start of the season, the club house had been vandalised twice and all the windows had been smashed and were boarded up. CoL decided it was time for a full upgrade and renovation because the pavilions hadn’t had any work done on them since 2006 (see before pictures at the end). So roll on to July for a 3 week building project which turned into a 6 week project with all our games rescheduled. Everyone did their best in frustrating circumstances to keep the ball rolling and now we have brand new CCTV, security system, vandal proof windows, brand new kitchen, flooring and lighting plus an upgraded watering system.

The grass isn’t always greener! These pictures show the ‘green’ today, and the while our lawn is definitely the greenest patch anywhere on the Heath, and even though the club is not subject to the current hosepipe ban, and EVEN THOUGH we have a brand new super-duper watering system, and EVEN THOUGH the grass gets a soaking every day at 6 a.m., and EVEN THOUGH it’s had a special smart water treatment to help the lawn retain water… the relentless sunshine means that it just can’t take up the water fast enough to cope and the grass has scorched and died. It will recover of course, in time, but in the meantime, bowling on it is testing everyone’s skills.

The eclipse tonight!

Friendly at Barnet Bowls Club yesterday, we lost by 7 points overall, 60:53. Another green suffering from the extreme heat; even though bowls clubs aren’t affected by the hose-pipe ban, the grass just can’t take up enough moisture fast enough to keep it green in this intense sunshine, so end up with these scorched patches. Our green is suffering the same way with brown and lumpy patches, but still there’s no place like home - can’t wait to get our clubhouse back tomorrow 🤞🤞

We were expecting the clubhouse keys a week ago, which was then delayed to yesterday… but just at the last minute that was also postponed to end of this week. Very frustrating for everyone concerned! We are desperate and excited to get back in, it will be 5 weeks since work began and we are champing at the bit!
Keep reminding myself that good things come to those who wait!
