Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈

The world feels complicated right now, and hard-won progress is being challenged.

But Pride is also about joy, celebrating our existence, our friendships, and our love is itself an act of resistance.

Love is stronger than fear, stronger than hate, and stronger than anything that tries to divide us.

Let’s love fully.

East London W8 4 - Remnants 2

Season finale done! The result didn’t quite go our way, but we played just as well as they did for large parts. It was a bit unlucky that they managed to get 4 while we only got 2. It could easily have gone the other way.

There was great effort from everyone. The best thing about the match was definitely lots of energy, communication, and positivity. Despite the result, we finished the season proud of the performance and enjoying the game.

A very special mention goes to Aurelie, Player of the Match, who played her final game after an incredible 22 years. A true club legend! She will be hugely missed by everyone on the pitch.

Final score: Remnants 2 - London Royals W2 0

Great match to be part of, especially since we were up against our favourite team to play, friendly, fun, and competitive in the best way.

It was a strong team performance, with great energy across the pitch. We moved the ball well, supported each other, and created some great chances.

Our two goals came from excellent teamwork and persistence, and we kept pushing while staying solid at the back. They gave us a good challenge and created some strong chances too.

It was a really enjoyable and friendly match. We had a lot of fun and will take the positive energy into the next game.

Remnants 1-Honor Oak W3 4

They started quickly and caught us a little cold with a goal in the opening two minutes, then added two more in the 16th and 31st minutes from short corners, and we had plenty to handle in the D, with the ball often arriving at our feet.

It was a great team effort, with everyone tracking back and helping defensively. We found ourselves a little pinned back and didn’t manage to get forward as much as we wanted, although we still created some strong opportunities at times.

A special mention to Rhiannon, who had an outstanding game. She ran tirelessly, fought for every ball, and scored her first goal for the team 17 minutes into the second half, earning a well-deserved Player of the Match. Lou also made her debut in goal and did brilliantly, staying confident and making some really important saves. Honor Oak added one more late goal, but we kept playing with the same energy.

We had fun and enjoyed the match. Heads up and on to the next one.

Final score: 5-0 against Honor Oak W2

Not our day, but not for lack of effort. They were quick, VERY young, and attacking from start to finish, and we spent most of the game absorbing pressure and holding our ground as best we could.

It honestly felt like their attackers were cloning themselves, and our defence and mids were working very hard to mark what felt like twice the number of players.

We defended, ran, defended again and, eventually, probability took over and the goals became unavoidable, even with Martina pulling off some big saves.

We had some strong individual performances, but it was difficult to turn those into sustained team pressure in their D, even though we did have a couple of moments near their goal.

The scoreline didn’t change our mindset, it wasn’t an easy game, but everyone worked hard and kept fighting right to the end.

Player of the Match goes to Becca for a warrior’s performance in the trenches.

Final score: 1-0 against Wapping W8.

An incredible game, absolutely not for the faint-hearted and yes, we won, WE WON.

From the first whistle, the tension was real, but we came out strong and dominated the first half, controlling the play and creating some great chances. This time, one of them paid off with an absolute screamer of a goal from Brooke, and we even caught it on camera, so enjoy!

The second half was a battle in every sense. Things got heated, emotions ran high and the final 15 minutes went on forever.

Short corner after short corner came our way, but our defence, and Martina, doing wizard-level goalkeeping, stood tall and refused to give anything away, keeping the score at 0.

Outstanding performances across the pitch, with Martina and Brooke deservedly named Players of the Match.

A huge team performance and second win of the season!

End of the first half of the season, and we celebrated with a classic: having 20 shots and scoring none while the other team scored every time they breathed near the goal. Final result: 0–3.

Sometimes the goals just don’t come, and that’s okay, the effort and spirit were all there, and we played some beautiful hockey.

Special shoutout to Brooke, back on the pitch and absolutely everywhere, everything, all at once. Fully deserved Player of the Match!

Despite a starting formation which put many players out of their preferred positions, Remnants had the strongest beginning to a match this season yesterday at home.

The opposite defence were disected from the left and right through the first 10 minutes, and Remnants took the lead with a goal five minutes in. Strong defending, midfield pressuring that forced the opposition into triangles where they often passed backwards and intense running from the centre-forward meant it took 15 minutes for London Edwardians to claw back a goal.

While another three soon followed, there was little Remnants could change to avoid conceding due to the clinical shots being taken.

Half-time offered a chance to reset, and while another four goals went Edwardians' way it remained Remnants most impressive showing of the season with plenty of intercepting, strong forward passes and great possessive play by the defenders.

Summer's weather turned up for today's match, and Remnants brought an energy to match it with high-paced, sweeping hockey that was beautifully sandwiched between getting maximum points from the day and an after-match teas that tasted even better than a victory.

The time on pitch was intense from the off, then evolved into pockets of action and lots of rethinking as attackers and defenders found their equals in each other and it proved tricky to score goals in either direction.

On several occasions the ball did make it into goal, much to everyone's enjoyment, and there was a surprise on-pitch presence by the team tactician who had turned up in heels.
