🏆 APOEL FUTSAL – CHAMPIONS 2025/26 🏆
Proud and grateful to have been part of this remarkable achievement and to contribute to a team of talented players, coaches, and staff who worked tirelessly throughout the season.
A sincere thank you to the club’s management for the trust and confidence they placed in me. It is especially rewarding to see that trust reflected in our success. Through consistent work, effective load management, and a strong focus on physical preparation, the team was able to perform at the highest level when it mattered most, especially during the extremely demanding playoff games.
Championships are built through commitment, professionalism, and teamwork. Congratulations to everyone involved.

🚀 ⚽️ Small-sided games are one of the most powerful tools in football training.
They improve decision-making, technical ex*****on under pressure, tactical understanding and football-specific conditioning.
But they are not a complete physical development system.
Most SSG formats expose players to many accelerations and decelerations, yet often fail to provide sufficient exposure to:
• Maximum speed
• High-speed running
• Maximal strength
• Power development
The best environments don’t choose between football and physical preparation.
They integrate both.
Football players need technical quality.
Football players need tactical intelligence.
But football players also need speed, strength, power and resilience.
The question isn’t:
“Ball or physical training?”
The question is:
“How do we combine them most effectively?”

⚽ JSCR publication translated into practice.
Footballers, your off-season should be simple:
🚀 recover, rebuild strength, keep sprint exposure, and return ready — not rusty.
In-season priority:
—> 2 weekly sessions combining power training + repeated sprints can be a time-efficient way to improve key qualities in youth footballers:
✅ Jump performance
✅ Strength
✅ Repeated sprint ability
✅ Aerobic fitness
Practical setup:
Power work first → repeated sprints after
2 sets of 6 × 40 m
High quality, not just fatigue.
Train smart. Stay explosive. Keep your engine ready.

🔬 The Influence of Strength in High-level Youth Soccer ⚽️
From testing to presenting 🚀
At this year’s annual and International Congress of Biochemistry and Physiology of Exercise I had the privilege to present our study:
“The Influence of Strength Level on Sport-Specific Fitness Elements Between Stronger and Weaker Youth Soccer Players.”
📊 Our findings highlight a clear message:
➡️ Stronger youth athletes outperform weaker ones across all soccer-specific fitness elements — sprinting, agility, jump performance, shot velocity, and even time of play.
➡️ Rate of Torque Development (RTD) was significantly higher in stronger athletes, showing that stronger athletes not only are ably to apply higher amounts of strength, but they are able to apply it faster as well.
💡 Practical takeaway for coaches:
Regularly test and categorize athletes by strength level.
Weaker players should focus on building maximal strength and fat-free mass by speeding more time in resistance training.
Stronger players benefit most from power and velocity-based training to shift the force–velocity curve.
🚀 Building stronger athletes means building faster, more resilient, and more effective footballers.
