Dreamy sauna session at Brixton rooftop ๐Ÿ’• Wish I was the type of person who hits up the sauna every week, but unfortunately that is not the season of life I am in right now. ๐Ÿซ

That said, my current training is tough on the body so keeping everything in check with REALISTIC non-negotiables is key. Here are mine...

1. Warming up before EVERY session which consists of mobility and activation/priming of the muscles. That includes running!
2. Stretching after every session. Again, I force myself to do this after running otherwise I will pay for it the next day.
3. A 15 min mobility and stability session each week focusing on my problem areas. Pay attention to where those areas might be for you.
4. Sports massages to keep things in check. Osteo and dry needling when I get injured. It's taken me a little while to find the approaches and people that work for me, but once that's nailed injuries become a lot more manageable.

These sound very obvious but are so often missed off, turning little niggles into full blown injuries. Look after your body and it will thank you when you are old and grey ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Hyrox Istanbul you were a blast!

Shaved nearly 8 mins off Berlin and came out with a time we're proud of. Showing hard work, consistency and team work wins.

Proud of Richard KC for showing up for the process while balancing a very busy job, co-parenting and battling his demons. ๐Ÿ’• He is also very good at striking a pose all while the HR is skyrocketing ๐Ÿ’

Proud of me for pushing through a major dislike of running and us getting into the top 15% for running in our category ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ And getting an ENTIRE 18/100 wall balls ๐Ÿ˜… (although it's still the station that screwed us over hard!)

Proud of us both for pulling each other through and not arguing when we got to the sandbag lunge transitions ๐Ÿ™

Next up Birmingham!

Real holiday feels ๐Ÿฆ

It seems the fitness world has decided we should all be caring about what our body can do and NOT about how it looks - the latter is no longer considered cool ๐Ÿ™„ But I know that looking good is still a big driver to exercise and it's often not a case of either or, but everything wrapped into one big ball of feeling good about yourself. And personally, I will ALWAYS care about how I look on some level. There, I said it! ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

HOWEVER, there is a line. And i'll be the first to admit that I've gone through periods where aesthetics have been too much of a focus and a detriment to both my mental and physical wellbeing. This can often intensify around holidays and events. It's the usual cycle... commit to some prep before, feel good, a few days in feel like you've gone up 5 sizes (you haven't!) and all the hard work has been undone. Frustration, failure, insecurity all to follow.

This last holiday things were different. I didn't 'bikini prep', didn't cut. And that was down to an intentional shift of focus - working towards a second Hyrox has meant aesthetic goals are still on hold while I focus on getting race ready (bye bye ๐Ÿ‘, hello VO2 max). The result? I was not my leanest or most bootylicious ๐Ÿซ  But I felt good in my body the entire holiday and that's a win.

So here is my two pence...

It's okay to care about what your body can do AND what it looks like. And unless you're aiming for gold, the two can coexist. But if you ever find yourself in that negative body image cycle, I urge you to shift the focus. Because when you're not fixated on aesthetics, the possibilities can be endless and that just feels bloody fantastic ๐ŸŽ‰

First Hyrox Doubles with Ricky complete ๐ŸŽ‰

Signing up to Hyrox was a massive step out of my comfort zone. As a 'non' runner and far from my pre baby strength snd fitness, competing in an event that requires a lot of running and a mega engine was terrifying to me. But thanks to an amazing coach and a lot of hard work, even through some of the toughest times, we did it!

Berlin was an incredible atmosphere and course to run. Biggest surprise - I actually enjoyed the running, even in the midday heat! Biggest fail...those frikin' wall balls got us good ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿซ  But no dwelling, we learn, improve and go again.....

This is your reminder to do the things that scare you, they may not be so bad after all! โœŒ๏ธ

39 weeks + 6 days v. 40 weeks

My most impressive transformation yet.

I struggled to appreciate my body throughout pregnancy. I am not sure I ever truly connected the changes & symptoms with the outcome. That wasn't to say it was a negative experience - some days I felt great and other days my body felt like a stranger, and honestly, I felt utter disgust at what I saw in the mirror.

Then she arrived. Physically it was the furthest from myself I have ever felt - like a deflated pancake that had been put through the washing machine a few too many times. All the muscle and strength I'd spent so long building up felt like it disappeared overnight, only further highlighting the joys that pregnancy had brought - cellulite, stretch marks, extra 'cushion'. Honestly, if you had shown me what would happen to my body before getting pregnant I would have had a little freak out.

But when it came to it, none of that mattered, because she was here. And, I could finally appreciated my body for what it had done.

Bodies change. Whether due to pregnancy, age, exercise and lifestyle choices...they tell our story and that story does not have to be 'perfection.' So thank you little Ottilie for letting me let go of what my body should look like and appreciate it for what it is. You're the best thing I've ever acheived.

And that's a wrap...

It's time to say goodbye to after 2.5 years. ๐Ÿฅน
The minute I started at Revolution I felt part of the family thanks to the amazing team and big boss . I have learnt so much since being at this studio and have had the most wonderful and loyal clients - some of whom have been with me from the very beginning. Thank you ALL for making the past 2.5 years such a joy.

It's now time for the next adventure, starting with becoming a mummy and then ... watch this space!

p.s continuing with my online coaching for the foreseeable ๐Ÿฅฐ
