Life is way to short to spend so much of it hating ourselves and our bodies.
And at the same time I’m actually not a believer in the ‘you’re perfect and nothing needs to change’ message that seems to get batted around these days.
No, humans are made to evolve.
If we don’t we stagnate.
It’s ok to feel like you want to improve, grow….it’s also ok if you feel like you need to do more exercise, take care of ourselves more or even (god forbid) loose a bit of weight!).
When I started posting on Instagram years ago I really did believe the ‘body positive’ message.
And I do still think accepting parts of our body we don’t love and being kind to ourselves is a skill we should all learn.
To speak to ourselves with kindness and accept compliments when we receive them.
But like any message it can be taken too far….and I see it being used as a neat marketing trick and even worse used to promote ill health.
The pendulum has swung too far.
So my preferred message is this…
Accept who you are and be willing to grow and evolve.
Be kind to you and that might mean working hard sometimes!
Do things that show your body you love her. Give yourself joy and pleasure.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this 👇🏻
