🚨 Social Rides moved to Sunday! 🚨
The weather on Saturday (windy, cold, and rainy) has put us all off riding - we're riding on Sunday instead (it'll still be cold so take care, but it should be nice and sunny at least!)
So Sunday, but apart from that all as normal: 8:30 at the library, all welcome, ~60k @ 20-22kph social rides (other longer/faster rides will be available)

🚨 Social Rides cancelled! 🚨
Storm Arwen is arriving, and if there was ever a good reason to stay in bed, it's a weather forecast of highs of 3º feels like -2º, with chance of snow, and winds of 37kph gusting to 76kph.
If you do need to go out, stay safe, stay on larger roads, and ride within your limits!

🕣 **08:30 Start Time** 🕣
It's getting darker and colder in the morning, so from now until spring all rides will start half an hour later! Same deal as normal other than that! Come along to Peckham Library and join our social rides for a friendly non drop ride into Kent!
This weekend we've also got our monthly women's ride this sunday, welcome to all cis-women and non-binary people who feel comfortable in a female-centred space! A 60k social loop and a 100k knatts (inc cafe stop) are rolling at at 8:30. Both rides are friendly, welcoming and non-drop, at around 19-22kph.

It's the Rapha Women's 100 this Sunday!
We've got two non-drop groups at two paces (19-21kph and 23-24kph) heading out for 100km this weekend, open to all who identify as women or are comfortable in a space focused on women.
Both groups meeting at the library on Sunday at 8:30, hope to see you down there! The route is a tried and tested loop out to Chiddingstone for a café stop at the excellent Tulip Tea Rooms.
(Can't make it? Our regular Saturday Socials will be departing at 8am as normal, and are non drop and open to all)

British Cycling are consulting on their Transgender and Non-Binary Participation Policy - this is a critical chance for us to inform and feedback to ensure that British Cycling do more to make cycling as open, inclusive and welcoming as possible. The survey (and a link to the policy) can be found here, and must be filled in before next friday: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/transgenderconsultation/
In response, our friends over at Velociposse have published an open letter to British Cycling calling on them to do more to support trans and non-binary cyclists - it's well worth a read and can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1okZgDtqgsMwVavsSOOCw8xu8SmttZaQBLujcwFbfxt0/edit
Finally, Steezy Collective have put together an excellent instagram story explaining some of the contentious points in the policy and suggestions for how to fill in the consultation if you're struggling for words - you can view it here: https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17885469947102615/

Half way through the weekend and we're crushing it! Collectively, our riders have climbed over three times the height of Everest so far, including early highlights like Robin and James C's double Alpe du Zwift ascents, and Ben's eye watering 63 reps of Croom's Hill over in Greenwich!!!
There's still plenty more time to donate, and with more warm weather tomorrow hopefully we'll see even more climbs conquered!

Peckham CC is climbing Everest!
We're pulling together this weekend (20th/21st February) to collectively climb the height of Everest (8849m) as many times as possible! We're doing it to raise funds for Pecan who run the local Southwark foodbank.
It's open to everyone to get involved - climb as little or as much as you can, indoors or outdoors, and submit your total meters here!
We've set up a Just Giving page here so send it to friends & family, share it on social media and Strava and let's smash the £1,000 target!
