Do you remember your first Gasshuku?

We had a splendid weekend’s training and it was great to have several new members from Tooting join for their first ever EGKA Gasshuku experience!

So we’ve been reminiscing about our first Gasshukus, when we were starting out. What’s yours? We’d love to hear them.

Congratulations to all our members who graded earlier this week! Terrific performance and spirit from all.

Training continues as we gear up towards the EGKA Spring Gasshuku and gradings in March.

JANUARY REWIND

We started the year with lots of kata. Followed by a few more to celebrate a very important birthday - happy birthday Sensei Linda! We went back to school with a fabulous after school session at St Matthew’s. And welcomed some lovely new students to the dojo for the first time.

In February we look forward to the Tooting Gasshuku.

Christmas and New Year: WRAPPED!

On Monday, 5th January, Tooting Karate Club reopens after the Christmas break, with our regular class schedule.

Before we do, here’s a look back at the highlights of our Christmas and New Year.

🎄 The Friends & Family training and Dojo Christmas Party raised nearly £350 for Dons Local Action Group and Crisis at Christmas charities. A tremendous turnout, fun morning’s training and fabulous party.

🥫 Our food donation drive was picked up by The Dons Local Action Group for distribution. Thank you to all those who donated.

🔥 New Years Eve was spent in the company of Sensei Tetsuji Nakamura　中村哲二 and IOGKF Canada with an online 108 Kata Challenge

😅 Finally on New Years Day, we welcomed in 2026 with our own 108 Kata Challenge with Seyunchin and Sepai. Yes, that’s 216 Kata in 48 hours for Sensei’s Linda, Ciara and Rosalia! How are the legs?

Wishing you all a happy and prosperous 2026 and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the Dojo.

Earlier this week Sensei Linda and Sensei Ciara met many of the members from the Croydon NHS Retirement Fellowship to lead a self-defence class! Amazing energy & lots of humour… thank you all for joining! With members into their 90’s, they were an inspiration and a reminder to never stop moving!

Grading Success!

Congratulations to all the successful grading candidates over the last few days and great efforts from those doing their mock exam. There was wonderful energy all round. Thank you also, to Senseis Nicola, Emily & Rosalia for all their help and support 🙏🥳

In the morning, Gabriel, visiting from Lambert Karate Dojo & Family Fitness Centre's in Australia joined training. Welcome!

And in the evening, we had the great pleasure of welcoming Sensei Herbert D. Allen, 8th Dan, from Arizona USA, who led training in the Dojo along with Sensei Linda Marchant. Thank you so much for joining us and sharing in your expertise.
