Entering the water from a boat? Own your giant stride entry like a pro. 🌊🤿
The giant stride is one of the most stable and controlled ways to enter the water from boats, docks, or platforms. When executed correctly, it keeps you upright, protects your gear, and sets you up perfectly for the dive.
Here are a few essential tips to do it right:
🔹 Full gear check before the step
Make sure your mask, regulator, and all equipment are properly secured and in place.
🔹 Mask and regulator in position
Place one hand on your mask and regulator to keep them secure during entry.
🔹 Look forward, not down
Keep your head up and eyes forward to maintain balance and proper body position.
🔹 Take a confident, wide step
Step forward with purpose — a strong, wide stride helps keep you vertical and avoids tipping forward.
🔹 Hold your gear steady
Use your free hand to stabilize your console, gauges, or weight system.
🔹 Check the water below
Ensure the entry area is clear of divers, obstacles, or boat traffic before stepping in.
🔹 Wait for the signal
Always enter the water only after the guide or crew gives the OK.
🔹 Signal OK after entry
Once you surface, immediately give the OK signal to the crew.
A proper giant stride entry ensures a smooth start, keeps your equipment in place, and maintains safety for everyone in the water.
