Our Grade 3’s have been working so hard on their pick-ups on one foot (it takes some serious focus!), so we think they earned a little air-guitar break!

In Grade 1 tap we start by building a rock-solid foundation of rhythm.

Our dancers learn to “feel” the music through a simple, effective progression:
👏Clapping - Identifying the quarter notes
👣Marching: Transferring that rhythm from their hands to their feet
🌟Practising: Finding the beat together as a class!

Learning to hear the music is one of the most important skills a young dancer can develop. It builds coordination, focus, and musicality. 🎶

Using rhythm-rhymes is one of our favourite ways to help our dancers “hear” the sounds before they even make them. It turns a tricky technical step into something catchy, memorable and (most importantly) fun! 💖💙

Vicky’s Grade 3s are nailing their rhythms this term - mostly because they’ve got their breakfast sorted! 🍳😂
