There was a time I knew nothing about training, but I've been "lucky" and forever grateful to have been exposed to great coaches and athletes over the years 🙏🏾

Yes, I've doubted what could be achieved

But over the years I have taken leaps of faith and just made a start with the unknown

I've looked for support when needed to help my progression

I've challenged my comfort zone, pushed myself to learn new skills over and over many times and continue to do so today

And to be honest through all of trying and challenge, life hasn't turned out so bad

Even if it scares you a little, that's a sign it's probably the right move to make 🤐

Your training, nutrition and lifestyle habits are just small cogs of what contribute to you being happy and healthy...

But they are at the same time so important to living a level up from where you are now..

Pay attention to them and challenge yourself to be better with them and there is more in life waiting for you to be enjoyed 🤙🏾

"If You Make Something Easy, You Will Do It"

Think about the tasks and actions that you need to be doing towards your goals

Do you find that there are obstacles such as time, location, and even your own mindset that get in the way and make it harder for you to do those specific actions?

Understanding how to make the things you need to do that little bit easier will help you build greater consistency and in time improve the amount of progress you make

This doesn't necessarily that the work you need to be doing should be reduced

It's more about how you

1) Make things enjoyable and improve your adherence

2) Plan your actions to keep things simple enough to do even when motivation dips

3) Link more challenging tasks alongside some of your already positive habits, consistent parts of your routine and where possible where things are most convenient

💡 Think about some of the biggest and well known services

They make things easy and reduce friction to get you to do something

Amazon- 1 click purchasing at the swipe of your phone screen

Netflix- automatically begins the next episode of a series with you not needing to move a finger

YouTube- will start a new video, that's linked to what you've originally chosen to watch

It's all become easier than ever!

The things you need to do around your fitness journey shouldn't be that much different

Could you create better patterns of behaviour within your own training journey

That improve the ease of taking action and liklihood of getting the work done?

If you have a goal of getting yourself in GREAT SHAPE, BUILDING YOUR CONFIDENCE and FEELING AMAZING in what YOU choose to wear

But you're not quite sure on what you need to do in order to make it that bit easier and more consistent 😕

Or you feel you're missing the exact steps to what will take you to the Next Level 🚀

I hope that this week is going as well as it can for you and your still feeling that excitement and fire to get back training in the gyms, and also back out and about a little more socially!

Speaking to so many people on the gym floor it's a week we have all been waiting for, for what seems like forever.

When thinking specifically about your training, make a big effort to focus on YOU, your goal and starting the work towards making progress.

If you're stepping back to training this week do it with intention, purpose and above all clarity on your goals.

Take some time to actually think about what YOU want from your training... no longer just turning up and going through the motions..

Make sure ther is also

Less comparison

Less thinking about what other people think

More dedication towards you.

Fall in love with the process of building back up and getting back to some normality again

Stay safe and Enjoy!

To a strong end to the week!

Are you often tempted to or battle the decision to skip your workout or not?

Remember your TRAINING IS A CHOICE and not a jail sentence, if it feels like the latter perhaps something needs to change or you need to re-establish and connect to your reasons WHY you are training.

Do you know your own LONG TERM GOAL, you should be able to tell me this with clarity.

This has to be more important over any immediate and short term gratification, keeping CONSISTENT with your training will pay off sooner the more you build your efforts together.

Getting started is often the most challenging part, always plan in a warm up and build yourself into your training session, this will better prepare both the MIND and BODY.

Still Too tired, No energy, Too busy, Not quite feeling it...

Reasons for skipping your workout can be both mental and physical, if your mindset and body aren't in the right place training may always feel a struggle.

It's worth looking at the full picture, sleep, stress, lifestyle commitments and your own EXPECTATIONS to explore if you are balancing things out well enough to put yourself in the right position to want to train

Look closer and assess these 4 areas below:

1) track your sleep
2) rate and be aware of your daily stress
3) list and order your weekly priorities
4) align where your goals and expectations sit against your actions and priorities

For help with managing this and to get you away from frequently skipping workouts DM me for a discussion to look at what is not working for you right now. Let's Fix It!

HAVE YOU EVER STOPPED, TAKEN A STEP BACK AND THOUGHT WHAT'S GOING ON WITH MY BODY?

As a coach and fitness professional, I believe that it is important to take a step back and look at the bigger picture to properly answer this question.

Your life isn't a single snapshot,

So when it comes to your weight loss journey, I assess and work across a number of different areas to build a 360 degrees, well rounded picture as to what's stopping you achieving your goals right now, the areas you find challenging and struggle with.

Have you ever STOPPED.

Taken a step back?

And looked at what it is you are or are not doing to reach your goal.

For most the journey starts with some very simple changes to daily habits.

Do you worry that weight training will make you bulky?

It's a common question that I get asked so, I have provided a few reasons to explain why you won't need to worry about this.

1) You're more likely to end up dropping body fat, and felling in better shape with more definition on your body as opposed to packing on lots of size

2) Your perception of what weight training will do to your body, may well be skewed. The reality of becoming bulky, just isn't that easy. Building big and noticeably larger muscle takes time and a lot of focus

3) Weight training will actually get you using more energy/calories and you will start to lose weight if you don't then small adjustment with your food intake will fix this

4) To put on BULK you will need to be eating more than you burn each day, which is not as easy as you think especially when you are weight training. If your food is managed your MASSIVELY overeating you'll be ok

5) Females, naturally your levels of testosterone is lower than that of males so you will not suddenly pack on masses go all "manly"

I do hope that this post helps you feel that you can further explore using weight and resistance training as a method to lose weight, get and stay in shape, and build your confidence.

If you have any questions or thoughts on this or would benefit from further advice send me "WEIGHT TRAINING" as a DM and I will help you further with your questions.
