2nd Late Peter D’Souza All Goa Veterans Football Tournament 2025 Kicks Off Today

The 2nd Late Peter D’Souza All Goa Veterans Football Tournament 2025, Organized by Bardez Veterans will kick off today, 26th November, at the Dr. Gustavo Monteiro Ground, Candolim. There are 16 teams participating from South Goa and North Goa.
The opening match will feature an exciting clash between Calangute Veterans V/S Anjuna Veterans at 4:45 PM.
Football enthusiasts can look forward to a competitive start as both teams aim to set the tone for the tournament.
All are invited to witness the action and support the teams as the tournament begins.

BARDEZ VETERANS OVERCOME GOA PRIESTS IN EXHIBITION SHOWDOWN
It was billed as a match between faith versus fortitude, sacred robes against seasoned boots and spirit versus strength as a selection of Goa Priests from various congregations took on mighty Bardez Veterans in an one off match at the Duler Grounds on 20th September 2024. Prior to the start of the match, Fr. Simon said a small prayers, thanked Bardez Veterans for organizing the game for the priests and wished both teams the best of luck.

The match started with sacred robes attacking the penalty area of Bardez Veterans and struck in the very 7th minute of the game when constant pressure resulted in a self goal, with the Veterans keeper having no chance. Bardez veterans however came back strongly and equalized in the 26th minute. The first half ended 1-1.

The second half saw Goa Priests made some strong substitutions and missed at least three chances due solid defending and good goalkeeping. Bardez Veterans too had their share of misses with Goa Priest keeper pulling of some important saves. The match ended 1-1 and Bardez Veterans were victorious 4-2 in the tie breaker. The match was officiated by Milagris Fernandes, Purshatom Mapari, and Sandeep Dargarkar.

A large holiday crowd witnessed the sea saw battle with majority supporting Goa Priests. During the lemon break, a housie game was conducted with a grand prize of Rs.10,000/- which was shared by Uric, Nelson and Jonas.

The presentation party included chief guest Fr. Tony Salema, the Administration of St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, Fr. Aldon of Alvarno Friary Monte De Guirim and Mr. Braz Menezes DYSP of Mapusa/Ribandar. In his brief speech, Fr. Tony congratulated both the teams and gave away the winners and runners up trophies in the presence of Fr Aldon and Mr. Braz Menezes. Fr. Franky had a special word of appreciation for the organizers, with special thanks to Jude, Reji , Joe Pereira and Erin Pereira for their tireless efforts to make the event a grand success. Jude of Bardez Veterans in his vote of thanks, thanked his colleagues, GFA for use of the ground, the many sponsors who contributed monetarily, and Fr. Franky for helping in organizing the match. For the first time in Goa, a total of 31 priests were present and 29 participated in the match. The entire event was compered by Julio Cardoso, a veteran player and football enthusiast.

A good start the year 2024.
First Tournament match.

Bardez veterans blank Quepem veterans 3-0 In the 4th all goa veterans football tournament Organised by Batora United club and played at Dysa ground curtorim on Saturday.
In the first session of play Quepem veteran Babazin and Jaffar missed the opportunity to score.
Changing over Bardez veterans change their plans and scored three quick goals by Sailesh Misquin and Paresh scored a brace while vicky sharma goalkeeper of Bardez veterans saved penalty kick taken by Jaffar of Quepem veterans
