Some promises are simply too good to ignore.

Spain and Real Madrid defender Marc Cucurella is preparing to honour a bold vow he made before the World Cup. The Madrid star promised that if Spain lifted the trophy, he would get a tattoo of head coach Luis de la Fuente’s face on his body.

Spain went on to win the tournament, and now Cucurella is ready to keep his word.

It is certainly one of the most unique ways a player has chosen to celebrate a World Cup triumph, and fans will be eager to see whether the tattoo lives up to the promise.

Xabi Alonso made a winning start to life as Chelsea manager as the Blues defeated Western Sydney Wanderers 6-4 in a thrilling pre season encounter.

Chelsea found themselves in a high scoring contest, but their attacking quality proved too much in the end. Satpayev opened the scoring before Dário Essugo brought Chelsea level at 2-2. Jamie Gittens then made it 3-3, while João Pedro stole the show with a brilliant hat trick, scoring Chelsea’s fourth, fifth, and sixth goals to seal an entertaining victory.

It was an encouraging first game under Alonso, with Chelsea showing plenty of attacking promise and several new signings making an immediate impact.
