Some lovely news from Millie Bright and her partner Tom Mitchell, who are expecting a baby 🥹❤️

Millie shared the news in an interview with Women’s Health, revealing that she is now in her second trimester and very relieved that they can finally talk about it after keeping it a secret.

She also opened up about what pregnancy has been like after spending so much of her life as a professional athlete. From seeing her body change to dealing with morning sickness and learning that it’s actually okay to slow down, Millie admitted that adjusting to a completely different routine hasn’t always been easy.

Millie revealed that Sam Kerr, Carly Telford, Erin Cuthbert and G**o Reiten were among her former Chelsea teammates who knew the news early and were “ecstatic” for them.

Millie also spoke about fertility in women’s football and why she wants it to become a much bigger conversation within the game, saying she would love to see fertility support become a “non-negotiable” for players in the future.

Tottenham Hotspur have become the first WSL club to introduce Legacy Numbers for their Women’s team 👏

The initiative will give every player who has made a competitive appearance for Spurs Women since the start of the 2011/12 season their own unique number, recognising their place in the club’s history.

The numbering begins with Joanne Ayre at No.1 and currently runs through to Hanna Wijk at No.183, with future players receiving the next number when they make their senior competitive debut.

The numbers will be worn on the back collar of Spurs Women’s shirts for the first time in their WSL opener against West Ham on 6 September.

While the numbered system begins in 2011, the club has also committed to recognising key figures from the Women’s team’s earlier history, dating all the way back to its formation as Broxbourne Ladies in 1985.

The move forms part of Tottenham’s ‘One Club, Two Teams’ approach, with the aim of recognising the history and identity of the Women’s side in the same way as the Men’s team.

Alexia Putellas has been named London City Lionesses captain for the 2026/27 season 🩵

The two-time Ballon d’Or winner takes on the armband following her summer move from Barcelona, with Elena Linari and Daniëlle van de Donk named as vice-captains.

Kosovare Asllani captained London City last season, but suffered a complex multi-ligament knee injury, including an ACL injury, against West Ham in March. She is currently continuing her rehabilitation after undergoing surgery and has since signed a new contract with the club until 2027.

Putellas arrives with huge leadership experience after captaining Barcelona during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history, and will now lead London City into the new WSL season.

Another injury setback for Vivianne Miedema 💔

Manchester City have confirmed that Miedema has sustained a knee injury in training and will miss the start of the season.

The club have confirmed that the injury is separate from the previous knee issues she has experienced, with Viv now working alongside City’s medical staff on her recovery.

No timeframe has been given for her return.

Alexia Putellas on the role Rosalía’s music has played throughout her career 🎶❤️

Speaking to EL PAÍS, Alexia explained that she started following Rosalía when “Los Ángeles” came out in 2017 and has used her music for years as a way to motivate herself and switch off.

“I use music a lot, to motivate myself, to escape, and she’s been there for me at many points in my career.”

She also spoke about how much she admires Rosalía’s ability to reinvent herself and break away from what people expect, something Alexia says has inspired her over the years.

It’s one of a number of more personal moments in the interview, which also covers leaving Barcelona after 14 years, starting a new chapter with London City Lionesses and how she sees the future of women’s football.

Gillian Anderson is the latest high profile name to invest in women’s football ⚽️📈

The actress has joined Crux Football as an investor, the women’s football multi club ownership group founded and led by Bex Smith.

Smith brings experience from the very highest level of the game. The former New Zealand captain represented her country at both the FIFA Women’s World Cup and Olympic Games, before becoming a UEFA Women’s Champions League winner with VfL Wolfsburg in 2013.

Following her playing career, Smith also worked at FIFA, including on its women’s competitions, before founding Crux Football in 2025. Her vision is to build a European women’s football platform where clubs receive dedicated investment, resources and operational focus.

Crux’s portfolio currently includes Montpellier and FC Rosengård. Anderson joins an increasingly high profile group of investors in the project, alongside names including Abby Wambach, Julie Foudy, Leslie Osborne, Sue Bird, Ali Krieger and Jen Beattie.

From a former New Zealand captain and Champions League winner to building a dedicated investment platform for women’s football, Smith is now bringing some major names along with her.

Alexia Putellas on how much women’s football has changed across generations ❤️⚽️

Speaking to EL PAÍS, Alexia reflected on the players who came before her and the very different version of the game they had to navigate.

“I would have loved for previous generations to have experienced what I’ve experienced.”

She went on to say that she doesn’t really see herself as a pioneer, pointing instead to the women playing in the 70s and 80s who helped push the game forward in conditions that would feel almost unthinkable now.

It’s a really interesting reminder of just how quickly the women’s game has changed. Alexia started out playing in front of crowds of around 200 and went on to become a two-time Ballon d’Or winner, World Cup winner and one of the biggest names in the sport.
