For me, Thomas Hearns had one of the most unique blends of length, speed and power boxing has ever seen.

At 6’1 with a 78-inch reach, he knew exactly how to use every inch of it from his lanky frame. His jab controlled the rhythm, froze opponents in place and of course opened the door for that devastating right hand.

I always loved how he mixed the double flicker jab to the head and body while constantly measuring range with his footwork. One moment of hesitation…BANG! The right hand was there instantly.

Even the way he used long lead hand defensively to post out and stop the opponent from entering the space toward him

I’ve only experienced it at amateur level, which I know you can’t compare. But I understand to small extent. Once you go through the ropes, there is no turning back. The excitement, fear and focus. It all comes together.

As much as you can lose or get hurt. There is a weird feeling of freedom. Well that’s what I’ve felt.

Usyk’s jab is pure art. The feints, the probes and stiff jabs. He just has it all from the southpaw stance

I love the way he particular uses a vertical, unseen “spear jab” that breaks rhythm and catches opponents off guard. Beautiful stuff!
