2017 Men's Club Championship Results
Day one was difficult due to the persistent summer rain, and slow pace of play (a visiting golf club/society went out ahead of us), but there were still some very good scores in.
Day two was much better though, thanks to excellent weather, and with a near-empty course ahead of the first group no waiting was suffered.
Here are the results:
GROSS:
Winner: Jude Edward (160)
Runner-Up: Scott Stevens (164)
NET:
Winner: Richard Slatter (142)
Runner-Up: Kenneth Frimpong (142)
This weekend is the highlight of the Braeside men's season: The Club Championship.
"Majestic!"
Co-o-o-o-ld February medal won by Scott Stevens with 40 points.
Overall 2nd: Andy Shannon (37pts)
Div. 2 winner: Thomas Varughese (33pts).
Well played, and braved, all.
This month's medal, due to be played over today, Saturday, and Sunday, is postponed to next weekend 20/21/22 Jan. This is due to the snow which has forced the (temporary!) closure of the course.
Our new era at Selsdon Park starts today, with our first competition, the monthly medal, at the new venue on 19th & 20th November.
New members are still welcome (eight have joined in the last week or so), and our new hosts offer much better facilities.
We are, of course, sad to leave the wonderful Beckenham Place Park - even in the poor condition that Lewisham Council had let it slide in to - but are excited to be playing our golf at such an excellent place.
Our thoughts and thanks also go to the café staff Jill, Kate, Lynn, Magdalena, Lesley, and Mickey, who continued to offer splendid service during what must have been a difficult past six months for them.
We must also extend our thanks and appreciation to the Save The Beckenham 18 committee who (continue to) put in a huge amount of effort to stop Lewisham Council's destruction of the golf course, even though many of them don't even play golf. Had the council been staffed by reasonable people with a true sense of democratic public duty the campaign surely would have succeeded.
Also to the Lewisham branch of People Before Profit for the recent protest and other efforts (which may not yet be public knowledge).
Thank you all for everything you've done.

21/09/2015
On Sunday 20th September Braeside Golf Club was proud to host the Penfold League Finals 2015. The weather really couldn't have been any better, and there was a lot of good quality golf played with Upchurch finishing as winners of the Team Event.
Our own, our very own, Aron Charles won the individual net score with a 66.
Everyone helping out on the day did the club proud, but special mention must go to our Captain, Denji, who spent the whole day running (or buggying!) around everywhere.
16/09/2015
