For those who have asked, Club Night is running as normal from 6:00 PM till 9:00 PM with some courts booked until 9:20 PM

Club night will be running as normal tomorrow Thursday 4th January 2024

No squash club tonight (21st December 2023) as the centre is closed. We restart on 4th January 2024. Have a lovely and safe break over the festive period and see you in the new year.

We have had lots of new players on Thursdays and some issues on the door trying to get in for our regular members. Marc has spoken to Britannia and hopefully this is resolved. If you are one of our regular members and have issues being let in, contact Marc on the WhatsApp group.

We had nearly 50 players this Thursday evening, which made the evening much less enjoyable for all players - leading to less and reduced length of games, long waits, and the 3/4 court ended up overcrowded and unsafe.
Current members may wish to check the WhatsApp group before attending. We will try and keep it updated regarding numbers of an evening, but will be asking the front desk to cap numbers to ensure regular players can continue to enjoy the social evening. There are a number of other club nights around London and encourage new players to support these evenings.

New players welcome! Please be ready to play a game safely, beginners should seek some lessons or coaching before coming along. We do not provide any coaching or training at the club, however, we encourage a range of levels and enjoy friendly competition and sportsmanlike attitudes. 

There are no membership fees and we are volunteer-lead. Pay Britannia leisure on entry. 

We are not Britannia leisure centre, so please don’t ask us to book courts the rest of the week! We are just a club night and we are excited to be starting again.

Please remember to show respect to your opponent in a game by ensuring you use the hand sanitiser at the centre, and please keep us all safe by not coming if you feel at all unwell.

Attention squash players! Britannia squash club is restarting this Thursday in the NEW Britannia leisure centre on Shoreditch Park. Having spent a lot of time asking when we can start, Britannia have suddenly announced they have booked the courts out for us from this Thursday. The courts will be available from 6.30 to 9.30 pm. We will need to limit numbers in order to run safely, so will ask people to sign in when they arrive and sign out when they leave so other later arrivals can join. The new courts have a few quirks, but the centre is lovely and bright, and there is an upstairs viewing gallery. The courts are on the first floor… Follow the stairs next to the café, and the viewing gallery on the second floor. More details on how we will run the evening to come this week. Britannia Squash Club 2021 Happy New Year! What.A.Year.  In March 2020, we had our last Thursday night just before the total lockdown. We had no idea that we would not restart the club, and even less know we would not even have access to the squash courts for individual matches the rest of the year. Firstly, I hope that y...

Whilst squash courts are still not open in Hackney, the latest advice from England Squash means that we would not be safe to operate the club in the same way according the current measures when the courts do open.

For those looking to start playing again once the facilities do open up for squash, the current advice is to ensure players keep to the social distance Rules set out by the government.

This means that you can play within your household bubble, however playing with someone else from outside your household will only be possible in coach-Led training sessions or playing ‘sides’ where players remain strictly on their side of the court and NO FULL GAMES will be allowed.

In addition, the following advice has been given: book a court and arrive on time (do not come early). Leave promptly. Bring your own towel and water bottle and do not rely on gym shower/change facilities being available. Wash your hands Before and AFTER a match, and observe good personal hygiene. Be kind and respectful of others and the venue which means keeping social distancing whilst at the centre and on court if not playing with a member of your household.
