**Bangladeshi-origin Farhan Makes His Fulham First-Team Debut**

Who is the only Bangladeshi footballer currently playing in the Premier League? Most people know the answer: Hamza Choudhury. Following in Hamza’s footsteps, another player of Bangladeshi heritage could soon join him next season.

Although Farhan Ali Wahid has yet to make his debut for the Bangladesh national team, today marked a memorable milestone in his club career. The winger made his first-team debut for Fulham in a pre-season friendly against Norwich City.

Farhan came on as a substitute in the 46th minute. While he was unable to score or provide an assist, and Fulham went on to lose the match 2-0, making his senior debut under Spanish coach Álvaro Arbeloa was a dream come true. As the match was played behind closed doors, it was not broadcast, making it difficult to assess his overall performance. However, Fulham’s official website noted that one of Farhan’s curling shots forced the goalkeeper into making a save.

Farhan was born in England on 9 December 2006. Both of his parents are of Bangladeshi heritage with roots in Sylhet, although they themselves were also born in the United Kingdom. Growing up on the streets of London, Farhan began his football journey in Chelsea’s academy before joining Fulham in 2019.

His rise through the ranks has been steady. He made his Under-18 debut as a substitute against Rochdale in the FA Youth Cup in December 2022. In July 2023, he signed a scholarship contract with Fulham, and in January 2024, he made his debut for the club’s Under-21 team. Playing primarily as a left winger, Farhan quickly became known for his fearless one-on-one ability, his tendency to cut inside and shoot, and his combination of pace and technical skill.

In 2025, he earned his first professional contract with Fulham. During the 2025-26 Premier League 2 season, he enjoyed an outstanding campaign. He was named Premier League 2 Player of the Month in November and was later shortlisted for the league’s Player of the Season award.

Meanwhile, in May this year, BFF Vice President Fahad Karim announced in a video message that the process of bringing Farhan into the Bangladesh national team had begun. According to Karim, Farhan’s agent had contacted the Bangladesh Football Federation to express the player’s interest in representing Bangladesh, after which work began on obtaining his Bangladeshi passport.

Bangladesh hopes to have Farhan available for the September international window, and the federation is also considering him for the squad for the SAFF Championship in November, Fahad Karim said in his video message.
