Swing Patrol Bermondsey

Hi all, thanks to those who joined us yesterday for our last classes of the year. Classes will resume in the new year, we'll let you know when.

Apologies, we didn't get to video yesterdays classes but here's a breakdown.

For both classes we used some basic moves (Tuck turn, Send Out, Jump Away for Level 1 class and different Swing Out variations for Level 2) to "break away" from our partners and go into to some solo jazz moves. Although we were now "solo", we still had a partner so we played with "call & response", where one of you initiates a move and your partner copies you, before returning back to each other and continue dancing. Great fun, gives you a opportunity to play and even make up moves!

The jazz steps we played with were taken from the classic Shim Sham routine ... The Shim Sham (foot drag), Tackie Annie, Boogie Back, Boogie Forward and Shorty George.

Hope you have great fun playing with these. Also, don't forget, it's the Swing Patrol Christmas Party this Saturday Dec 12th. Dress theme Red, White, Green. Hopefully see you there. 😊

Bishopsgate Swing with Swing Patrol and the Bishopsgate Institute Join us at the wonderful Great Hall in the Bishopsgate Institute, a hidden gem in the heart of London. Bishopsgate Swing is a monthlyy event with a live swing band and vintage DJs plus a free taster swing lesson at the start of the evening.

Hi all, hope you're having a good week.

Tomorrow will be our last classes of 2025, so we hope you can make it for some final fun of the year.

For both levels, as well as learning some more moves, we'll also be playing with "breakaways" (where you do a move which separates you from your partner, allowing you to do some jazz steps before rejoining your partner). These are great fun to do.

We'll also have some festive Christmas swing music, if you fancy.

Tonight we'll be doing 8 count Lindy Hop, getting you to Swing Out in the Level 1 class and then playing with rhythms and musicality in the Level 2 class. 🎶🎵

On another note, some of you over recent weeks have said things like "will you be teaching xyz?" or "I wish I hadn't missed that class because I really liked those moves!", etc.

So, if there are things that you would really like to have us teach for the Level 1 or Level 2 classes, please let us know here and we can try and fit them in.
