Green Recovery Underway

Now that the green is closed for the season, members of the club were back in action last Saturday morning — not bowling this time, but helping with some important work to support the green’s recovery.

After a long season and a very dry spell of weather, the green was given some much-needed top dressing to help it recover and prepare for next year.

It was a fantastic group effort, with members helping to move all the top soil from the car park onto the green. Not quite as relaxing as a Saturday roll-up, but definitely just as important!

A big thank you to everyone who came along and helped with the hard work.

Special thanks also to Tiena, Jenny and Liz for keeping everyone going with tea, coffee and bacon baps — always an essential part of any successful working party.

Great effort all round, and another reminder of the brilliant volunteer spirit that keeps Wymeswold Bowls Club going.

🏆 Johns Trophy Success! 🏆

Huge congratulations to the Leicestershire team, who won the prestigious Johns Trophy on 30th August!

We’re especially proud that our very own Wymeswold Bowls Club player, Carol Inserra, was part of the winning county team. What a fantastic achievement for Carol, the team and everyone involved.

Well done, Carol — everyone at Wymeswold Bowls Club is incredibly proud of you! 👏💙

Captains’ Day at Wymeswold

This year we held our Captains’ Day, replacing our usual Presidents’ Day, and it was great to see the event so well attended.

The weather was kind to us, the bowls came first, and everyone brought along their own food to enjoy during the day.

Due to the excitement of the event, not many photos were taken — which is, of course, standard practice for our wonderful club captains. At Wymeswold, it seems the motto is very much: game first, photos second!

It was a lovely day on the green and another great example of the friendly, social spirit of the club.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such an enjoyable occasion.

Monday Team on Form

The Monday Team were in action recently against Soar Valley and came away with a resounding 7–1 victory.

It was a strong all-round performance, with everyone firing on all cylinders and contributing to an excellent result.

A great team effort and another positive result to keep the momentum going.
