We are delighted to announce that Edd Whetton has joined the coaching team as Joint Head Coach alongside Martyn.

Edd has a fantastic reputation in Leicestershire tennis and we are delighted to have him at the club. A message from Edd below:

I'm really excited and honoured to be leading the coaching programme here alongside Martyn Whait — someone I've looked up to for many years.

Loughborough also holds a special place for me personally: it's where my brother and I played our very first tournament, so coming back to lead the programme here means a lot.

I grew up playing at Ashby Castle Lawn Tennis Club, where I became the youngest player in the club's history to represent the men's 1st team.
I represented Leicestershire from 12U through to 18U and travelled the country competing at national and international level.

Thirteen years ago I took over as head coach at Syston Northfields Tennis Club — at the time, the youngest head coach in the county.

What began as a small Saturday morning programme now has 120 juniors and enough work to support two full-time and one part-time coach.

I coach all ages and abilities, including disability groups and wheelchair players, and I've coached multiple county champions as well as coaching and captaining junior county teams for Tennis Leicestershire.

In 2022 and 2025 I came runner up nationally for the LTA coach of the year award after winning the county and regional stages.

Growing club programmes is what I love doing, and I can't wait to get started on that with Martyn and the club directors/junior committee at this fantastic club.

I'll be taking regular group lessons and I'm also available for 1:1 coaching.

To book a lesson, give me a call on 07800 599057.

See you all on court soon.

A truly incredible week for our Head Coach Martyn!!!

With the winter league season about to begin, it's time for a summer league roundup!

After hundreds of highly competitive matches, played by 25 (yes TWENTY FIVE!) of our teams, the final summer league matches have just been completed, and there was some real drama right at the end of the adult league season!

The Womens 1s and Mixed 2s grabbed enough points from their final matches to ensure survival in Div 1 and Div 2 respectively, whilst the Mens 3s secured crucial points to pull off back to back promotions meaning they will join the Mens 2s in Div 2 next season!

The good news continued for the Mens 1s who bounced straight back up to Div 1, and the Mens 4s also earned promotion to reach Div 5 next season, whilst the Mens 1s NCL team also secured their promotion to Div 1.

In the junior section there were 1st place finishes for our 12&U Boys in Div 2, 16&U Boys in Div 2, with 2nd place finished for our 8&U Mixed in Div 2 and 18&U Boys in Div 2.

Overall we saw 4 promotions and 6 relegations across the season.

We'd like to extend a huge thanks to everyone who has represented the club so well this season, to our team captains and match secretaries for all of their hard work (nobody gets to play a match without them!), and to our opponents for a highly enjoyable season.

Bring on the winter season!!!

EDIT: Boys 18&U A finished 5th in D1 not D4!
