Players from 15 clubs across the North East competed in the Club's Tri-Am Open on 30 August, sponsored by E&M Lees and K&I Paterson Stoves Ltd. The Gross winners were Kevin Duthie (Hazlehead), Craig Park and Neil Gordon (both Westhill) with a score of 57, followed by a local team of Brian Marshall, Martyn Hossack and William Bruce with a score of 63. In the Net section, three Lumphanan ladies came out on top, Gwynne Cromar, Aileen Strachan and Carol Keir with a score of 51. Close behind in second place, with a score of 52 , were Gary Homer, Matthew Homer and Lorraine Hunter from Aboyne. The E&M Lees Trophy for the best local net score for men was awarded to Dennis Robertson with a score of 61, and the I G A McLean Trophy for best local net score for ladies went to Aileen Strachan with a score of 63. Colin Crooke from Lumphanan won the Nearest the Pin for men and Aileen Strachan for ladies. A full list of the scores is on our website.
Our next Open Competition, a Greensomes, sponsored by Brian Marshall Diamond Core Drilling, is on Sunday, 13 September. Tee times are available from 08.30 to 09.40 and from 11.30 to 12.50.
Again there will be bacon rolls in the morning and the bbq will be on the go. We would be very pleased to see you at our last Open of the season.

Thanks to all the competitors who competed in our inaugural Lochnagar Views Joint Open with Torphins Golf Club yesterday, Saturday, 25 July 2026. All the players enjoyed the format, playing the front 9 at Torphins followed by the back 9 at Lumphanan.

We are very grateful for the support which we received from Findrack Sporting and from Royal Lochnagar, whose representatives generously kept the players in good spirits!

The overall winner was Christopher Lennox from Thirsk & North Allerton, pictured below with the Captains from Lumphanan and Torphins, Peter Gent and Nigel Bennett.

Best at Torphins: Stewart Adamson, Torphins – 21 pts

Congratulations to Mark Albiston who raised the amazing sum of £1454 in his Charity Golf Challenge in aid of Alzheimer’s Society. Mark completed 72 holes of golf on Saturday 18 July, starting at dawn at Oldmeldrum for 18 holes, then at Lumphanan for 27, Hazlehead for 9 and finishing at Auchmill for 18. Mark very much welcomed the support he received from a number of fellow Lumphanan members and others throughout the day.

It was very disappointing to wake up this morning to find that our club sign had been defaced during the night. Not a great look as people enter the village.

What a weekend. Many congratulations to all who participated in our Men's and Women's Championships over Friday and Saturday. The winners in the Men's event were:

Gross: Martin McGillivray 66 + 63 = 129
Nett: Stuart Allan (22) 67, (23) 50 = 117

And in the Women's:

Gross: Joyce Wilson 87
Nett: Carol Keir (25) 65

And to put the icing on the cake Martin had a hole in one on the 18th in round 1 and another in round 2 on the 9th, both times using a pitching wedge on the 161 yard holes. Martin now has four aces to his credit.

With many thanks to LCRA/Lumphanan Detox 10K for their very generous donation which funded the purchase of a new defibrillator for the club and the local community. Our previous one was no longer fit for purpose. Thanks must also go to Gordon and Ian Massie and Jim Lees for giving their time so freely to instal this new piece of equipment.

Thank you to everyone who came along yesterday to participate in our Seniors' Open kindly sponsored by PSG Health Ltd. We had absolutely glorious weather, just the correct temperature for playing this frustrating game.

Lumphanan holds it Mixed Seniors Open, kindly sponsored by PSG Health, on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. This is a Stableford Competition played over 18 holes. Tee times are available at 9.20 am, 9.40 am, 9.50 am and 10.10 am and then from 12 noon until 12.40 pm. Enter through the Scottish Golf App or email [email protected]; entry is £15 per player.
There will be a selection of food available: tea/coffee, scones, soup and pastry sausage rolls.
Please come along and join us. We can promise a warm welcome and an enjoyable round of golf.
