🏉 Rugby Fixtures and Training Schedule 2026-27 🏉

See attached the rugby fixtures and training schedule for this season. All matches and sessions are subject to change so pupils are encouraged to keep an eye on the Google Classroom for details.

Boys’ Rugby Pre-Season continues tomorrow morning, Wednesday 19th August before a session this Saturday morning. Both sessions are 9-11am with gym and pitch sessions 💪

It has been great to see such energy and enthusiasm at our sessions, with our pupils developing their key rugby skills 🏉

With rugby pre-season beginning this Monday, it’s a good time to introduce to you two of our new rugby coaches who will be about the school!

Mr Williamson and Mr Tweedie will be developing our backline and forward play respectively. The full video for both can be found on the Lurgan College RFC Google Classroom.

A reminder that pre-season training begins this coming Monday 10th August 9am sharp at school.

Congratulations to Penny Speer (Y11) on her performances for Ireland U19s against Scotland in the Celtic Cup U19 Women Tour. Ireland won the series 3-2 with Penny taking an outstanding 4 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs! In total Penny took 9 wickets in the series. A fantastic achievement with Penny have another few years at this level. Well done from all at Lurgan College 🏏

Everyone at Lurgan College would like to congratulate Abi Fitzsimmons (Y12) on her fantastic selection to the Northern Ireland Women’s U16 squad for the 2026 SuperCupNI.

We wish Abi and the entire Northern Ireland squad every success in the tournament 🟢⚪️

Congratulations to Penny Speer (Y11) who has been representing Northern Cricket Union U19 Girls. NCU U19 Girls beat Leinster by 167 runs to win the U19 Interpros with Penny taking 4-17. Amazing achievement!! 🏏

Fantastic news for Leo Johnston (Y12)! For the second year in a row, he has qualified to represent Northern Ireland at the 2026 European DTL Championships, Home International and British Open. The four days of competitions are being held in Wales next week. All at the College wish Leo the very best!

Congratulations to Anna Owen (Y12) who has been selected in the Netball Northern Ireland U19 Development Squad for 2026/27 with training starting in September. Well done Anna!

A massive congratulations to Penny on being selected for the U19 NCU squad and representing the team in last night’s game! An incredible achievement, especially as she’s only in Year 11. Your hard work, dedication, and talent continue to shine through 💙🏏

The Pre-Season 2026 letter is attached for training dates and times for summer. Looking forward to seeing good numbers attending the sessions with all current pupils and incoming Year 11 pupils welcome!
