Relax St Annes on Sea
I would like to thank you all for your comments concerning
Name
I apologise for the delay in getting back to you. I have Parkinson's Disease and find that i can only focus for short periods and basically one finger typing.
Firstly, I would like to clarify that I'm not trying to score points, my sole intention is to arrive at a definitive name to use for marketing material if we're lucky to go for Town of Culture 2028
; it's worth the effort; £3 million
neither am I failing to take on board your point of view or being stubborn. It's invaluable to hear/read what you say.
To get authority to spend money I will need to evidence findings.
Punctuation, spelling, rationale and chronology of changes to names are in the mix.
I've found a couple of interesting bits in my initial research.
St Annes was named after a Colonel's Aunty not the Saint.
The Victorians used the terms "On the Sea" use to indicate that it was near the sea,and "Ɓy the Sea" to identify towns with same name the same!

With Fylde Rugby Community Foundation – Fylde Bowling Academy just got recognised as one of their top fans!
We are delighted to be associated with this great organisation, playing rugby has been part of St Annes culture and long may it continue! 🎉
There's no defence that can be said for the appalling performance of the match referee🇿🇦 he is with out doubt the most card happy official i have seen. There wasn't a minute that I didn't hear his whistle How did he get appointed to officiate possibly the showcase of the autumn series .
In contrast the first woman to take charge of a NZ game. 60 minutes, 18 penalties 5 yellow cards and a red card.
Shocking!!

It's not long before Easter. I find that there is such a buzz around this time of year, spring flowers changing the darkness into a sea of colour. People smile more, animals come out of hibernation, migrant birds arrive on our shores. It usually coincides with the start of the out door bowling season.
I hope that this will be the time that the primary schools in Fylde start to see the green bowls as a way of bringing colours of excitement to their pupils faces as they start their life long association with the sport of Bowls.
I must be getting old, I'm starting to remember the days of my youth as if it was yesterday. School Disco's, Football, Table Tennis, Cross Country.. all provided at school. Outside of school i was too busy delivering milk, newspaper rounds, a saturday job in the newsagents Monday nights Army Cadets, weekends learning military skills, winter and summer camps. No mobile phones, no ipads, no Internet .
No I wasn't bored. I didnt have time.
The things i did then shaped my whole life. I can't dance, i can't sing , i can't ask Juliet "hey it's Romeo, you and me babe how about it?" I'd be in dire straights, my pictures don't paint ten words, i can't construct a proper sentence or write an emotive poem. I don't have an umpha lumpha of an imagination. Unless you're exposed to the arts and nature you'll not earn enough to poppin and buy seed.
So it's important that we do something to encourage the youth to experience different activities, out of their comfort zone; inspire them to reach to the stars and challenge them to help build a youth club that meets their needs, and take the lead when deciding what directions their club goes .
SAYC invites all 11 to 16 year old living in St Annes to URBAN ART on 31st March 2024, Easter Sunday, at 4pm to lay the foundations of their club of the future.

The post that tells a story. . .
Thanks to some funding from Fylde Sports Development the Academy will be able to roll out a programme to provide Fylde based primary schools with the tools to deliver bowling sessions to their own pupils in their own school.
That's right, because they could soon have the opportunity to use Bowls Buddies new age equipment. As part of the roll out teachers and, year 6 sports champions will have access to coaching material, and training to deliver bowls in their own school.
To mark the launch of our "Let's get bowling" campaign we thought to set a challenge to them and we guess everyone else is what is the missing word else ... see picture?
