🇦🇺💙 THANK YOU, SKEENY 💙🇬🇧
Three seasons ago, a lad from Bendigo, Australia arrived at Lytham Cricket Club. What we didn’t know then was just how much of an impact Nick Skeen — or “Skeeny” as he’s become known to everyone — would have on our club.
From coaching our junior section every Friday, to playing every game he possibly could, Skeeny has thrown himself into every aspect of life at Lytham.
Across his three seasons, he has made 96 appearances for the club across the 2nd XI and Sunday XI. In his second season, he took on the challenge of captaining the 2nd XI during what was, to put it mildly, a particularly challenging year for the Club. He did so with commitment, enthusiasm and a genuine desire to help the club.
That commitment didn’t go unnoticed. In his second season with us, the Lytham Cricket Committee were delighted to present Skeeny with the Clubman of the Year award — recognition that couldn’t have been more fitting.
Away from the cricket, Skeeny has also played a huge part in taking our social media to the next level. His work has helped grow our following and, more importantly, has showcased the club and everything that goes on here in a way we can all be proud of.
But statistics, awards and social media followers only tell part of the story. Most importantly, Skeeny has simply been Skeeny.
He’s been the bloke who is always willing to help — whether that’s at junior coaching, nets, getting stuck into some ground work, lending a hand wherever it’s needed, or simply getting a round in at the bar. He has never needed to be asked twice.
Everyone at Lytham knows just how influential and important Skeeny has been during his time with us. He has given an incredible amount to this club, and in return, has made lifelong friends who will undoubtedly remain close long after he’s back on the other side of the world.
Nick, we genuinely cannot thank you enough. Your dedication, energy, character and love for the club have made you a massive part of Lytham Cricket Club, and you will be missed by everyone associated with us.
From all of us at Lytham Cricket Club — thank you for everything, and we wish you nothing but success in whatever comes next, both personally and in your cricketing career.
You’ll always have a home at Lytham. 🇦🇺🏏
