Match Report:
Game No. 2, our first home game, against a Great Eccleston team having their first game on a grass wicket.
Capt Flood won the toss again and we elected to bat first.
We were more composed this week, losing only 5 wkts, compared to the 16 against st Anne’s.
However the bowling we were facing was less as impressive. They did have 2 great bowlers but the others offered little quality to get the ball pitched up, or even on the wicket
This frustrated our batters, who couldn’t really get the bat on ball, with it either being wide, or rolling on the ground.
As a result our net score was 213 after scoring 43 runs
(Against st Anne’s we scored 84)
Notable batting:
Thomas F top scored with a net 4, batting with Henry, they both opened well, with Henry also with 2 they got us off to a great start losing no wickets
At the turn we knew they were chasing a gettable target and it was in the air. We had to field and bowl well
Our bowlers did their job with some great performances
Marissa picked of the bowlers on her debut getting 2 wickets. Oliver picked up another in the last over leaving a very tense last 3 balls. One more wicket would have won it for us
Henry caught 2 difficult balls to the knees, and after looking solid behind the stumps had to be replaced by Austin, who did well with the run out also.
Winnie was great in the field, alert with backing up and vocal supporting the bowlers.
Max had an attempt of what would have been an amazing catch, but at one point it was looking like he could have taken one to the head so thankful he was fine.
Solid performance from wills with bowling against their better batters.
All in all a frustrating game, where we played good sensible, and better quality cricket.

Match Report:
A close and tense encounter against an experienced st Anne’s team whose majority of players had already had game time under their belts from last season.
We turned up hopeful, with Thomas F being today’s captain, winning the toss, we elected to field first.
We bowled extremely well, keeping st Anne’s at bay, only allowing them to score one boundary.
All bowlers played their part, and was great to see some of them get their first wickets.
Shout out to Thomas E, first ever wicket taker for the team. 👍
Henry was amazing behind the stumps, having no prior practice, managing to stop the huge amount of oncoming well bowled/ unhitable balls coming his way - welll done Henry 👍
They scored a net score of 222 (after starting at 200)
It was our turn to bat.
After a nervous start, our openers got into it and hit some solid shots.
Max and Oliver brought more runs on the board with max hitting a great 6 into the car park!
Both Thomas’ then came in and Thomas F hit them with a few strong great 3s and 4s
Last pair or wills and Austin, got us into position to possibly clinch it in the last over. They got us to level scores with one over to go.
Overall a great start and something to be proud of and build on.
They took 3 amazing catches, and bowled slightly straighter hitting stumps when we missed
If you look at the scorecard we performed (in my opinion) a lot better than them, our bowling was tight not allowing them to score, and we scored a lot more runs.)84 to their 52.
We just missed a few more straight ones.
