Here to motivate and enpower you

Needed to hear this myself today:

You do not need the perfect morning, perfect body, perfect mood, or perfect motivation to keep going.

I got to the gym this morning and honestly felt like crap.
I dragged myself through it.

And that’s okay too.

Because discipline isn’t about feeling amazing every day.
It’s about not giving up on yourself on the days you don’t.

Imperfect action still changes your life. 🫶

I’m still fuming. 😡

I walked out of the gym and heard myself say:
“I think I’m too old.”

Too old? At 50?

Where did that even come from?

Because here’s the truth — that wasn’t reality.
That was a thought.
A conditioned, hormonal, anxious, protective thought.

And if I hadn’t caught it…
I could have believed it.

Yesterday, a woman in her 40s told me she feels like she can’t do certain classes anymore.

And I get it.

Midlife can feel different.
Recovery changes. Energy shifts. Confidence wobbles.

But that does NOT mean we shrink.
That does NOT mean we step back.

It means we adapt.
It means we train smarter.
It means we regulate our nervous system so those thoughts don’t run the show.

Because if we don’t…
those thoughts become beliefs.
And those beliefs quietly change how we live.

So this is your reminder (and mine):

It’s just a thought.
Not the truth.

Don’t shrink.
Don’t step back.

Stay in the game — just do it your way.

Are you with me?

Midlife weight gain.

I didn’t struggle with my weight in my 30s and early 40s.
Yes, I had to be disciplined—but it worked.

Then mid–late 40s hit…
and what used to work just didn’t work the same anymore.

So I did what most of us do…
👉 I pushed harder
👉 trained more
👉 tried to be even “better” with food

And I ended up completely burnt out.

What I didn’t expect was this…

When I finally slowed down, prioritised sleep, and started looking after my nervous system—
my weight stabilised.

Not with a perfect diet.
Not with more exercise.
But with less pushing.

Don’t get me wrong—hormones absolutely play a role.
But I’ve realised it’s also about how they affect:

– our sleep
– our mood
– our stress levels
– and how we respond to all of that (hello emotional eating + sugar cravings 🙋‍♀️)

Even looking at a lot of the “hormone support” supplements out there…
so many focus on things that help calm the body and support better sleep.

Which says a lot.

So if you feel like you’re doing everything “right” and it’s still not working…
maybe the answer isn’t to do more.

Maybe it’s to pause, recover, and support your body a bit differently.

I’m still figuring this out myself… but this shift has been a big one

Has anyone else noticed this in midlife? Or is it just me?

This is 50.

Not perfect. Not always on track.
But consistent.

Even after a wobbly weekend… I showed up.

And that’s what builds strength.

Proud to stand alongside every single person pushing themselves in that room 🔥

✨ Yoga Fusion – Free Community Classes
Thursdays · 6.30pm · YourGym

This six-week Yoga Fusion series is designed to soothe the nervous system, release stored stress in the body and gently stimulate the vagus nerve – the body’s natural “calm switch”. Through a mix of slow flow movement, gentle twisting shapes and restorative breath work, this class encourages the body to move out of stress mode and into rest, recovery and repair.

Why the vagus nerve?
• It plays a crucial role in lowering stress and anxiety levels
• Helps regulate heart rate, digestion and emotional balance
• Supports deep, restorative sleep
• Activates the parasympathetic nervous system – your body’s healing state

With growing awareness around recovery and sleep now being just as vital as training and nutrition, this class is perfect for anyone who feels constantly busy, tense or “wired but tired.” Each session will end with a guided relaxation to support better sleep and nervous system reset.

Suitable for all levels – no yoga experience required.
A welcoming space to breathe, move, release and reset.

FREE to all members and non-members for the full six-week block.

🔥 WE DID IT! 🔥

What an incredible day at Dryathlon — a full-body blast of SkiErg, RowErg, and BikeErg!
Heather and I competed as a doubles team in the 100+ category (yes, we’re talking age combined 😄) and we’re proud to say… we came first! 💥

Okay, okay — we were the only team in our category — but that doesn’t take away from the effort and energy we brought to the floor. We showed up, gave it our all, and had an amazing time doing it together.

What made it extra special? The legendary , ERG World Champion, was there supporting his 65-year-old mum, who completed her very first Dryathlon — and absolutely smashed it. That is what this is all about pure inspiration, inclusion, and fabulous community 💪

And yet, we couldn’t help but notice — where were the rest of the women our age? These events are so accessible, uplifting, and empowering, and it’s a shame not to see more of us showing up.

I am so passionate about championing older women in sport — not just participating, but being seen, celebrated, and encouraged to try something new, challenge themselves, and have a great time doing it.

To — thank you for hosting such a welcoming and great event. And to aka James— it was an honour to share the same space and celebrate your mum’s awesome achievement.

And just a reminder :

Fitness doesn’t come with an expiry date — and we’re just getting started. 😁💪

Another great session with some fabulous women at today!

I returned to deliver my second talk on menopause and women’s health over 40—and once again, the energy in the room was so supportive and compassionate it was inspiring.

We explored nutrition, hormones, gut health, and mindset during midlife—and how small, sustainable changes can transform how we feel every day.

Thank you to the hub for welcoming me back and to every woman who showed up with open hearts and questions.

If you’d like to bring this talk to your gym, women’s group, or community—drop me a message. Let’s rewrite the story of middle age together 🫶
