A few weeks into the new seasons it’s a good time to reflect on the 25/26 campaign ⚽️

It was a whirlwind start.
Starting the campaign I was leading Bollington United FC Women’s U12s, U13s and Ladies. It was always going to be tough to run three teams but after my wife tore her meniscus in our 2nd league game with the Ladies this became untenable. Luckily we found a brilliant coach in eva who committed so much time to the U13s and was unlucky not to win the division 🟡

A month before the season there was no plan for a Ladies side at Bolly. Thanks to the club and the small group of players, I had previously, we managed to pull together a team. Without a proper pre-season, a young team with limited experience playing in the adult game we were up against it. It was also my first time leading an adult team. We had positives including good results against teams who payed their players (yes in step 7 🫠) but ultimately it’s an area I failed in, we didn’t achieve our goals for the year but I’m glad for the learning opportunity and have taken away plenty to take forward in my coaching journey. I was lucky enough to work with some brilliant players, some of which I’ll be supporting for their new teams this coming season and hope to have the opportunity to coach again in the future 🤞

Originally apart of a bigger squad with the U13s the 24/25 season saw the U12s split off and make their own team. With no other assistants once my wife got injured I took over the U12s for 25/26. After not losing a game in the seeding games they were placed into the top division. After Christmas the girls played against the best teams of their age, every game was a competitive close game. We capped the season off becoming the Champions of the Sandbach tournament 🏆 The best group of girls a coach could hope for, the skys the limit!

When I thought my season was over I got a call from a very good friend at Wirral United FC who invited me down to help the tail end of their season. Although I played a very very small part in it Wirral won the treble 🏆🏆🏆 What an experience and i’m so blessed to be apart of such a great group! And we’ve had a great unbeaten start to the season… Back to Back?

A great start to the year with a 6-3 win in the snow 🥶

It was a fairly scrappy opening 20 minutes with both teams trying to get used to the conditions but we slowly started to dominate possession which helped us create a couple of chances on goal.

We eventually got the first goal of the game when Jayde tapped in at the back post following a corner.

Sutton equalised shortly after with a nice lob from 25 yards out that no keeper would have been able to save.

Not to be deterred, we quickly regained our composure with two quick fire goals from Isla and Lucy - both of which were great finishes.

We continued to dominate in the second half and it didn’t take us long to get a fourth goal when Ash Robson scored her first goal for the team after coming through from our u16s. Alex and Molly Clarke got themselves on the scoresheet for the second game running.

The player of the game was shared between Elo and Mollie Hewitt. Elo kept the game ticking over, made a real impact in the final third and almost scored in what could be her last game for us 🥲 Mollie, who is only 16, controlled the game in the second half. She was always available for the pass and was involved in a lot of the good combination play on show this afternoon ⭐️

Manager Kieran Stockton said “Despite the conditions, the ladies played their best football of the season. We translated a lot of what we’ve been working on in training throughout the season and took control early. 6 good goals, we should have had a few more but happy overall with how we played”

It’s been a long time coming but we’re buzzing with our first win of the season 💪3️⃣

It took us a little while to get going in the first half although we did create a few chances with Lucy using her pace to get in behind on the right wing to either get the cross in or to have a go herself. The breakthrough did come shortly before half time with Isla taking advantage of a goalkeeping error to poke the ball over the line.

We knew the second goal was crucial with Molly Clarke having some decent efforts on goal before Lucy made it 2-0 with a well taken finish.

This was the boost we needed and everything started to fall into place with further goals coming from Alex, Molly C (finally 😂), Charlotte and Maggie completing the scoring with a few minutes left.

Lucy was awarded PoTM who was a constant threat all day and played with the most confidence we’ve seen all season 👏🏻

Manager Kieran Stockton had this to say after the game “We’ve been very competitive defensively all year but struggled to put it together going forward. Today, especially in the 2nd half, we played with a freedom we haven’t seen this season. Hopefully this is a turning point and we can kick on from here”
