What a brilliant weekend at helper licensing, a relaxed atmosphere great sportsmanship and support.

Thank you to Severnside Sports Dog Club for being great hosts, so much happens behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly.

Helper training under way at the GSDL Helper Licencing Event 2026 💪

⭐ Helper Licensing is here! ⭐

We're looking forward to welcoming everyone for a great weekend of training, learning and helper licensing.

The day will begin at 9:00am with sign-in and the morning briefing. Training is expected to commence from approximately 10:00am.

📝 There will be a sign-in sheet on arrival, so please make sure you complete your details.

Breakfast rolls will be available in the morning, with other food and drinks available to purchase from the clubhouse throughout the day.

💧 Plenty of fresh water will be available for all working dogs to help them stay cool 💧

A huge thank you to everyone who is bringing dogs for our helpers to train and complete their licensing with – we really appreciate your support.

If you are bringing a dog for the A Grade licensing, please let me know on the day. Dogs used for A Grade licensing do not need to hold an IGP3 qualification, but they must be capable of completing an IGP3 routine.

⚠️ Helper licensing 2026 ⚠️

Helper licensing this year will be held on the 1st and 2nd of August and is being hosted by Severnside sports dog club, thank you to them for having us.

Our Trainers for this year are Jock Mitchell, John Padden and Ross Heron

People wanting to attend the event either just for training on the Saturday or to licence on Sunday MUST be put forward by their club secretary, Please contact me directly [email protected]

Helpers wanting to licence must be a fully paid up member of the GSDL WDG for a minimum of 3 months prior to event

Helpers wanting to licence for their B grade must bring a dog to work for their round

Helpers attending for the first time and wanting to licence for a B grade must attend the training on Saturday.

Potential A grade helpers should also be present for training on Saturday

It has been brought to the attention of the WDG that quite a few members have not renewed their membership with the GSD League of Great Britain. It is a condition of membership of the WDG that members must also be members of the GSD League of Great Britain. If you do not have dual membership by 30th June 2026 your WDG membership will be revoked. Please therefore ensure you hold membership for both organisations. Revocation of membership will affect your ability to enter trials and helper licensing.
