Good afternoon all, hope you are keeping well and safe, and looking forward to a ‘proper’ bowling season next year. Vaccines permitting, we seem to have at least half a chance of something closer to normal come May, fingers crossed!
Since the end of our unusual season this year, we have been doing a few jobs to improve facilities ready for next season. First, the row of lockers under the honours board in the hall have been replaced by new, much needed storage cupboards with a nice oak worktop to match the honours board. Hope you like them.
Second, the paving in the patio area is now complete, giving us about 60 square meters of entertaining space ready for the first bbq of the season. Just need somewhere to sit now......

Hope to see you all soon.

Great day today with our friends old and new from Essex and Wiltshire. Fixture held at Town now for many years, and judging by the compliments on the green, surrounds, hospitality and especially the food.....they’ll be back again for years to come. Well done everyone who helped out, too many to name, sufficient to say we pulled the stops out for them and it was very much appreciated.
They ate all the pies....!!!

02/09/2018

Congratulations to all our members involved in competitions during this finals weekend, especially our club champions Jan Mayne and Tim Eales. Also well done to the women’s top club team who are through to the final which is being played on the 8th Sept at Sutton’s BC. 🏆🏆🏆

Hello all,
Hope those of you attending the curry night had a good time, and a nice meal. I thought the atmosphere was terrific, lots of smiles, lots of chat, great to see the club busy.
However, I have an apology to make. My after dinner “speech” was rather underwhelming, my only defence is that I had been on my feet for virtually two days solid, I was pretty knackered.
So let me put that right with a few thanks. An event like this only works with a group of willing and well organised volunteers.
Firstly Mary, who produced and served the rice, and helped with the setting up and decorating of the tables. Mary refused money for the rice, thank you Mary.
Then Karen who helped with the prep in the kitchen, and along with Tony, managed the delivery of food to the tables. Also Yoneko, who got everybody sat down and brought the orders to the kitchen, helping us to get the food out at a good pace.
We had a great team of washer-uppers too, all those above with good support from Chris Wright on the dishwasher, Mick and Jan wielding their trusty tea cloths and putting the pots away, and Andy on all the dirty work scrubbing the pots and pans. He tells me if he never sees curry sauce again it will be too soon....Lots of others too who I can’t recall, but it was busy in there so I cleared out quickly...
Thanks to Colin for ably manning the bar as ever, he tells me it was a good night on the till.
And finally, how could I forget my glamorous assistant Jean, who has been helping, and putting up with my tantrums, for a week during the preparation, chopped more onions than you can shake a stick at, and helping enormously with all the prep and service on the day. Think she wants our kitchen cleaning next......any volunteers?
Thank you Jean.
And thank you all for coming, hope you enjoyed it. We made around £160 for club funds on the night, so well done to everyone.

Regards,

John
