Hermitage Park Karate Club

Half term is over, 18 in the dojo tonight, fantastic numbers for a Monday and a lot of our Thursday regulars now getting the benefit of doing a second lesson 💪🏻

A focus on hikite training tonight and the importance of bringing a technique back nice and quickly. We also focused on accuracy using the hoops to make sure punches were coming back in a clean straight line.

A stunning day for HPKC today- Everyone who graded today absolutely smashed it and did us proud! Congratulations to Jan and Ash (who both double graded!) Amy, Avyaan, Riona, Charlie, Sarah, Emma, Mia, Harry and Gareth!!

A special mention to our Sophie who is testament to what you can achieve with practice, sheer determination and a genuine love of karate.✨She might be little, but let me tell you this girl is as fierce as they come!!

Best of luck to these 3, and the rest of the Kent Michi Karate Association squad, competing at the Legend Open this weekend!

Give it your best, keep a level head, but most importantly enjoy the experience gained from stepping out on the tatami!

Last night we took a break from all the grading prep work we've been doing recently and did some pad work and kumite drills. The 3 person drills with the adults were definitely an interesting one, trying to spot or create the gap when you can't see your opponent..

Today marks the day that Hermitage Park Karate Club turns 4!!

What a four years it has been too! We've seen our first junior and first senior shodans, and have more training hard for their gradings this year. A number of our students have gone on to compete at open competition, as far as Birmingham, and against international and national squad members. As for the rest of our students, they are an absolute pleasure to teach and their hard work and commitment is fantastic to see.

Thank you to all our members (and their parents) for all of the support we've had over the years. Here's to the next!!

A bit of half term fun to start the week, some kumite drills and working on generating power through the floor 👊🏻

Super lesson tonight, slightly smaller class than usual but everyone who trained worked really hard. Syllabus work to start before some "play" time using the mitts with the juniors to build their confidence up. In the adult lesson we did some good drills using uraken and work on breaking the line to create distance and openings
