I know things have been quiet here since I closed my clubs but we are still studying karate just at a lower level.
This weekend I am spending a couple of hours with Arjun Myanger studying Odo version of Niseishi as well as a review of Toma version of Kusanku and Meloni version of Soken no sai and if we have time Kanazawa version of Empi....
So, not yet dead in the water... :)
Is anyone else keeping up their studies?
Shin-gi-tai martial arts
We are a group of martial arts clubs founded in 2002. We teach Karate (Shotokan and Seito), Kenjutsu
Long time since i have posted on here so let me update everyone on what is happening.
With the Covid issues all the younger children gave up attending classes as we were unable to conduct normal ‘fun’ activities involving contact and large numbers.
The classes we could run were supported by a few adults , some who had studied with us since childhood, so we were fortunate to maintain a small group of sensible students who could concentrate on socially distanced distanced karate training.
In addition we formed a Wednesday evening virtual class and conducted a lot of home studies and video assessment to prepare students for their next grades.
Finally i created a virtual class in self defence and will be offering that to the public shortly.
Sadky all weaoons training has stopped due to lack of support which made classes no longer biable due to travel costs.
We are now looking for a couple more adults (our club policy requires people to be vaccinated against Covid) who are interested in studying karate with a focus on modern self defence. Anyone interested can reply to this post for further details. Thank you
go for it granny... lesson.. never underestimate your enemy :)

So what is going on at the moment... Childrens Black belt and adult Kyu grading this weekend then childrens kyu grading at end of July and again in October.
Club BBQ get together at end of August.
Possible Dan grading in November depending on who is ready by then.
Finally kids Xmas party the Friday before Xmas...
In between all of that we continue studying karate, Kobudo and kenjutsu..:)
New year has started well with quite a lot of enquiries, many for 3-4 year olds so have had to decline them, but a few potentially good over 5's have started. New weapons student and potentially a new Karate adult too.
Classes now closed until 4th January. Thanks to all the great friend and students who have supported our clubs this year... have a super Christmas and hope 2016 goes really well for you all.
At weapons tonight we will be reviewing grades of kata already awarded so that those who have started more recently can catch up. I will be asking those with grades to demonstrate the kata..😀
Don't get to write on here very often but think I should update the header picture with a more recent one..:).. We have this page as well as the SGT group so need to consider what goes where...
We have had an increased interest in the weapons class and renewed interest in sword training. This coming Friday we will do a Sword based lesson with Sai in parallel after the introductory coaching.
This Friday we have our children's Christmas party and hope for a good turnout. Lots of prizes and sweets have been bought and games designed to ensure fun is had by all. We only have about 15 children pre booked but expect quite a few more to register on the day.
After the party we will have a weapons class for the 14+ students and then we close until the week of 5th January 2015.
Wishing everyone a blessed and peaceful Christmas with much happiness and cheer...
