The hill I will die on.
The decisions made in politics directly affect the health outcomes of ordinary people.
Health and politics go hand in hand.
I am sick to the eye balls of hearing that people like RFK have "good intentions".
These "good intentions" are going to lead to poor health outcomes and avoidable deaths, so forgive me if Idgaf or have sympathy for people who enable the grift.
And to be frank...there are people who don't know they're causing harm...
..but f**k me when those people are making decisions on health policies for a nation, it's not that.
They know.
They're getting richer and making their friends richer from the bu****it they're selling.
The man in question is American, so why does it matter?
Because the misinformation spreads fast and the research that they're defunding and cutting impacts us all.
Good intentions is unfortunately not a reason to push back on something that is fundamentally hurting people.
What about those people? People who are susceptible who will be harmed.
Do they deserve to be harmed because the person who caused it had good intentions and we didn't want to hurt their feelings?
Not sure what the answer is to the problem, but I certainly won't be quiet about bu****it when I see it, that's for sure 🤣

I love it when people ask me why I get so "angry" when people post health and fitness information online, because "why does it matter?".
There's a ripple effect of harms that can be done.
Sometimes small, maybe a few people, sometimes more harmful and on a wider scale
..and if everyone stays quiet and says nothing about it, the impact is wider and leaves an open door for more.
People profit from bu****it.
Who pays for that? Not them. It's you.
At worst you waste some time or lose some cash...
Maybe you feel disillusioned because you're doing everything "right" and not getting results...you think it's your fault...
..but actually it's because you've been sold the miracle cure that doesn't do jack, but now you're on the verge of quitting, feeling like nothing works.
At worst, you or someone else is harmed by a protocol dished out by so eone profiting from this or even someone well meaning but misinformed.
All of this, is why it matters.
I'm genuinely not angry. I'm passionate and want to be part of ending this cycle for whoever I can.
Passion sometimes looks like anger I suppose,
but no one ever fired people up and motivated them with sounding indifferent and mild mannered about a topic that needs enthusiasm and a drive for change.
My question is, why 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 be "angry"?
P.s. The book is 'Bad Science' by Ben Goldacre.

🧮 A decision that you're paining over.
When really it doesn't matter.
🏁 Pick a starting point,
try it out.
❌ If it doesn't work,
check your adherence, 🔍
check your activity level. 🏃
If it's all tight, then adjust your calories:
👇 down (for fat loss),
👆 (up for mass gain)
or up or down accordingly to find your maintenance if you are losing or gaining where you don't want to be -
⚠️ BUT do be mindful that we fluctuated day to day and even week to week so do get some data behind you before making rash changes.

Don't do what I did 🫠...repeatedly.
I know some people ignore advice like this...
..because you still think willpower is enough.
And it feels scary to feel like you're not sticking to your plan.
But let's be honest, if this situation resonates with you,
then it's not working anyway.
And if you keep binning your plan cause it's not working, something has to give.
You need to see the bigger overall picture rather than seeing a day you didn't "do what your were supposed to" that leads you to double down on your efforts.
It's sad when you see someone scared to eat a bit more when they're bloody hungry.
That's diet culture.
I'm not against fat loss at all.
I am against trying to acheive it at any cost, especially when that cost is quality of life or your mental health.
Please don't live like that.
There's no need either, you can reach your goals and live happily.
I really want to help more people break away from this kind of restrictive mindset and the idea that they "just need to have more willpower".

🔣 The formula for toning:
Toning is one of the things PTs and coaches get asked about the most.
So I decided to turn this story answer into a post!
Although I didn't know I was going to do that when I used this image of me split squatting...
..so now the framing just looks like a b**b shot 😂 ffs.
✅ But yes, to get a toned look, you need more muscle and less body fat.
💪 If you already have a lot of muscle, you may just need to reveal it with fat loss.
🏋🏻♀️ But you should still resistance/strength train to maintain it, but also, it's bloody good for you!! 🙌
And if you are quite "slim", you may need to build some muscle and potentially lose a small amount of fat.
👥 Not everyone will look the same at the same body fat percentage though, it comes down to genetics too.
Some people will get there more easily than others if that's the goal...
🚫🧠...and some people would just have to sacrifice too much to get that look and it isn't worth sacrificing parts of your life and mental energy for sometimes.
⚖️ You'll need to weigh it up and importantly, if you have a physique goal...
🥅 ... make sure you have process goals you can celebrate too so you can see your achievements and see the other outcomes.
💭 Think: habit tracking, personal bests, consistency, mindset changes, energy level increases, sense of achievement, confidence etc
