HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY Mote Park Watersports Centre!

Today 16 years ago today, Mote Park Watersports Centre started. No one else wanted the lake at that time because there was nothing there! (Except stinging nettles and an old wire vandalised fence)
With an Argos tent and 1 small sailing boat it began. For years we didn’t even have electricity nor running water.

None of this would have been possible without the help of friends, volunteers and family supporting the efforts to make it what it is today.
We haven’t received any grants or funding from anyone to get this far, not a single penny (many people think we are council run)

It really has been a DIY SOS project, with plumbers, builders, welders, electricians and good old hard labour making it happen with all of their time given for free, with the donation of a new kitchen kettle, to building companies putting in our fencing for free. It has all helped, we need your support to continue on!

With very kind donations from the public to help make it possible for children, adults, people with disabilities, people with ill health, with all ages and back grounds to be able to enjoy the lake at Mote Park.

Never in its history has the lake been open to everyone, all year round 7 days a week. We still need help and support, we really do.

Did you know we run many charitable events at Mote Park Watersports Centre like dragon boat races for FREE every year by us with Staff and Equipment all included for FREE we do like to give back.
We like to give back the best that we can, from charities to BBC Children In Need, we can help.

Congratulations to all those who passed their Paddlesport Instructor training yesterday!
We had guys from and Meridian Canoe Club completing their British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor course and despite the cold weather everyone did very well!
