£6 per class. A mix of the graceful steps of Ballroom and the up tempo steps of the Latin dances to create a really fun, energetic and effective way to stay fit and keep trim that would appeal to everyone, even if they couldn’t dance. A dance fitness programme that is ‘so much fun you don’t even realise you’re getting fit!’

And FitSteps® is unique. It is the first time that classic Latin and Ballroom dances have been brought together with proven fitness techniques and principles to create not only a programme that can have extraordinarily wide appeal, but one that also has the potential to make a real and lasting impact on the health of the nation. The important point to note is the distinction between the plethora of dance classes that exist and FitSteps®. FitSteps® is a fitness class, delivered through dance. So, our emphasis is on helping people towards fitness; structuring the classes to deliver real, measurable, fitness results. The dances are broken down into easily learnable sections and each section is capable of being delivered at varying levels of effort, accommodating people of varying levels of fitness. They appeal to all age ranges and classes can be run for mixed age groups with ease. We’re proud to say that we have had people from the age of 9 to 74 participating, all of whom loved the experience.

Strictly is back! ✨

And this year, it has a bit of a new look.

After months of hearing about the changes coming to Strictly, we finally got our first proper look at the 2026 series this weekend.

So, now that you've seen it...

What do you think?

Are you loving the new-look Strictly? Most importantly, who are you looking forward to watching on the dance floor this year?

We know there are plenty of Strictly fans amongst our dancers, so we'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

And of course, we'll be watching the dancing very closely! 👀

What if exercise felt less like something you should do and more like something you actually looked forward to?

That's FitSteps.

Ballroom and Latin-inspired moves, great music, and a friendly class where getting everything right really isn't the point.

You can work at your own level, enjoy the music and get your body moving.

And quite often, you're having so much fun dancing that you forget you're exercising at all!

No partner needed and no dance experience required.

Strictly is back… but it feels a little different this year. 💃🕺

Like many of you, I’ve watched Strictly for years – both as someone who loves dancing and as someone who teaches it.

With the new series beginning and some noticeable changes to the show, it got me thinking about what Strictly has become, what might be changing, and perhaps what we actually want from it.

So I ended up writing about it!

If you’re watching at the weekend and have thoughts about the new-look Strictly, you might enjoy this one.

And if you enjoy the article, you can choose to follow me on Substack too. It doesn't mean downloading another app – you can simply subscribe with your email and new articles will arrive in your inbox.

I write about dance and movement, but also pain, neuroscience, behaviour and the sometimes surprising connections between them. Basically, the things that make me stop and think, "That's interesting…" and want to dig a little deeper.

Have a read and let me know what you think – I'd love to hear your thoughts on the new Strictly too.

New presenters, familiar dancing, and what our reaction to Strictly’s biggest shake-up might tell us about how we deal with change.

National Fitness Day

This year’s tagline, “Powered by You,” highlights that everyone has a role to play and opportunity to be active, from individuals and communities to businesses, schools and hospitals.

National Fitness Day isn’t just about one day of activity; it’s about taking small, sustainable steps towards a healthier, stronger future.

"I'm too old to start dancing… aren't I?"

Absolutely not.

There's no age by which you were supposed to have learnt to dance.

You don't need to have started as a child.
You don't need years of experience.
And you certainly don't need to move like you did 20 years ago.

You just start from where you are now.

For some people, dancing is about learning a skill they've always wanted to try. For others, it's about moving more, meeting people, enjoying the music or simply doing something that's just for them.

Whatever brings you through the door, you're allowed to be a beginner at any age.

And you might just wonder why you didn't start sooner.

A little Samba in progress…

Here's a glimpse of our intermediate dancers working on their Samba.

At this level, it's not just about knowing the steps. We're exploring the rhythm, timing, technique and character that make each dance feel different.

There's always something new to learn, refine or discover – however long you've been dancing.

And that's part of what keeps dancing so interesting!
