Maldon Bowling Club - Lawn Bowls Maldon Bowling Club is a friendly club situated on Park Drive near Promenade Park. New members are always welcome. New bowlers are very welcome.

Bowlers can play in local leagues, regular friendly fixtures or purely for recreation. No experience is necessary as training is available. Anyone interested in a free taster session should contact the club to arrange a mutually convenient time.

It's a wrap.
Another brilliant season drew to a close this afternoon with the final Monday roll-up.
All six rinks were in use with some bowlers having more success than others 😏 mentioning no names 😁
A big thank you must go to Graham Smith and Sheila Wright for running Monday afternoons throughout the season, and to Pam Clack and others for making the tea, and to Cherry Richardson for ensuring that we're always well-stocked with biscuits.
It's been great to see so many new bowlers getting involved and we look forward to welcoming them back next season.
If you're one of the many bowlers who continue to bowl over the winter...enjoy.

The last Friday roll-up for the season 😎

Our ladies travelled for their last friendly of the season to Southminster and they didn't disappoint. Winning on both rinks.
We had four of our new ladies Marie, Ann, Louise and Sue taking No.1 and No.2 positions. With our lovely skips Cherry/Pam (9 ends each) and Helen giving guidance at the other end where needed.
Marie, Ann and Helen won 22-13 and only actually let the other team win 6 ends in total.
Louise, Sue M and Cherry/Pam won 18-16.
Thank you to Southminster for hosting an enjoyable afternoon.
Well done ladies and a big shout out to our supporters Margaret & Derek, Peter and Brenda and the lovely Trevor.
And Ladies Captain, Bobby, of course.
Bobby has guided our ladies team, superbly, throughout the season.
It's been great to see our new ladies getting in involved, and falling in love with the game.
Very well done to everyone who has played in the Chelmer League. We finished in a commendable second place.
We have our eye on the top spot for next year.

This afternoon was our closing drive, and what lovely weather we had 😎
But...where has the season gone?
After a great afternoon of bowling, there was a plentiful supply of food 😋 brought in by club members.
Thanks to the good weather, it has been decided to extend the season slightly.
The last day for bowling will be Monday 28th September.
Make the most of it 😃

11 ends, 3 woods - a brutal game!
Dave Bruce played Tony Wallis on Rink 5.
Tony might regret choosing today to try out his new bowls. Dave won 9-4 after 10 ends.
Peter Saunders played Dave Torrice on Rink 3. Dave was on top form and defeated Peter 13-2 in 8 ends.
Then it was over to Rink 2 for the battle of the Daves.
Unfortunately for Dave Bruce, Dave Torrice maintained his form, claiming victory 13-5 after 10 ends.
Congratulations to Dave Torrice, a very worthy winner.

Tomorrow sees the semi-finals and final of the 11 ends 3 wood competition starting at 12 o'clock.

Thanks to Peter Ward for the final match report of the season.

We have finally reached the last friendly match of the season and we went out of town to Witham Bowls Club.
I personally haven't been there before, so was pleasantly surprised at what a nice large clubhouse they have.
Initially it was to be 3 mixed triples but we increased it to 5, as we both had plenty of bowlers ready to play.
It was decided to play 18 ends straight through.
After 9 ends Maldon were winning on 4 rinks and behind on 1, with an overall score to us of 42 to 23.
Basically we carried on in the same vein and after 18 ends we won on 3 rinks, drew on 1, and lost by 1 shot on the other rink, with an overall score of 92 to 63.
We then went in for a well deserved cup of tea, listening to the stories of the day, such as where a certain bowler turned a plus 4 into a minus 3, (no names mentioned).
Again a lovely afternoon, with lovely company, we look forward to doing it all again next season.
